Wow, I think the list is in the wrong order on a number of fronts. First of all, our DL is not spectuacular. But, Bolden and Williams have been solid. The DE's have gotten some solid play out of Mitchell and Ayers.
My list:
Special Teams (coverage units primarily)
Secondary
Linebackers
Wide Recievers
Defensive Lineman
Offensive Lineman
Quarterback (only due to pinky)
Running Backs
Tight Ends (Brown has played very well, Cottam has been solid)
Punter (now that he appears to be healthy)
Coker proved to be the "stud" last year, look at any game he had more than 5 carries and he out ran the starting back for that night. Foster can only run on weak defenses like vandy and kentucky. Look at his freshman year, yeah he ran for 800 yards in 5 games, but look at the teams we played. Coker is talent riding the pine and if he doesnt start this weekend i vote for CPF removement. Im sick of talent sitting on the sidelines while we are getting killed out there.
I would certainly put RB above TE since we do have one reliable TE and that is one more than we have had in many other years. UT has had a lot of great RBs over the years. Not having one is a huge problem. The wide receivers have actually had 100 yard games, more than we can say for any RB this year.
Also, Ainge is less a worry than the running situation.
I wonder what his all purpose yards were against Cal? It has to be over 100.
Up to this point, not playing Coker is what will cause you to vote CPF out? Has your T.V. been broken for the first three games? I agree with you concerning Coker, but I hope you can find more pertinent issues concerning the program to have CPF fired, even after the first game for that matter, than Coker not playing much lately. Most of the posters agree Coker needs to be on the field much more on offense and not just special teams.
I think he has slowly crawled out of the doghouse and the lack of playing time is still lingering evidence that he is proving himself more and more with his character. I look forward seeing your post next week when you praise CPF for letting Coker play so much, becuase I think this week is Coker's game and he will get three times as many touches this week than his first two games.
Ah, you got me. RB is still a bigger problem than WR to me.
Good points. That said, I do wish Coker would get at least the same amount of touches as does Foster. The ball needs to be thrown further than 6 yards down the field before I say WR is a huge need. Downfield threats are on the sidelines.
It starts with both lines (O and D) and then goes to LBs IMO before either WR or RB issues needs to be addressed.
