Gerrymandering in Virginia

I think the founding fathers would change a lot after seeing what America has become 250 years later. I'm sure they never thought a political party would believes that men could becime women and that kids can get sex change surgeries. I'm sure they would have never expected the amount of corrupt spending from the federal government and the complete disregard of our constitution from third World immigrants. So I think they would have made a few changes if they knew 250 years later
Nah, the first thing the founding fathers would be confused by would be black people freely walking around everywhere. “Why are those slaves walking around freely! Capture them!”

If you want to really get it, look at the contrasts of Obomber's visit to China and the current President's. The Chinese totally shite all over Obomber and treated him like a clown. This time they roll out the red carpet and kiss Trump's azz. They know where the bear sits and who is their daddy.
Eastern cultures respect only power and strength. If you're not respected and/or feared you are nothing.

They pat him on the head and give him a shiny toy to play with so the adults can talk.

The Ds and the Rs are the same. The political theater in DC confuses folks on both sides. They want us citizens to be divided so they can maintain power. I get sucked into the facade sometimes. But once your eyes are opened to the game it all makes sense.
Because they are the same, we badly need a real leader as POTUS. That is ever increasingly difficult. The best people for the job no longer want the job because of the movement of each party toward the extreme.

They are plucking Trump's strings.

yawn

They represent the state....yada...yada...yada

Who better reflects and understands the "state's interest" the citizens or gerrymandered elected officials?

Again, this may be your most inconsistent position of all time.

I’m not surprised that you can’t understand

I'm not surprised you opted for that copout.

From this point forward you will no longer be Mr. Consistent; which was about the only thing you had going for you.

Senators are there to represent their state as a whole where representatives in the house are there to represent their individual districts. Sometimes those interests conflict. By electing senators by popular vote they now represent the biggest voting bloc in their states and not the state as a whole.

I think I may have identified the flaw in your reasoning.

You seem to believe that people who want the citizens of the state to elect the senators of the state believe that it is the senators' job to represent the common citizen.

Here's the real question, who is best equipped to elect the senators who will represent the state....elected politicians or the citizens of the state?

Your answer seems to be that the elected politicians know best.

Elected state legislators

You would prefer that the senators represent the biggest voting bloc of the state's elected officials and not the state as a whole, which is much worse.

If the Senate & House are elected by the same constituency, what’s the point setting up bicameral chambers… you only need one.

A majority of districts would have to be in agreement via state legislatures.

Only a few districts would have to be in agreement via direct citizen vote.

I’ll take a majority of districts over a few districts.
