Gerrymandering in Virginia

Spare me with the "it's both sides" argument. It's complete BS and you know it. Between the gerrymandering, fraud, corruption, Epstein cover up, unauthorized war. Just look at what happened today in VA. Republicans basically rigged the midterms and the Dems try to do the same in VA (BY an ACTUAL VOTE) and it's struck down and what do Dems say? "We respect the decision of the courts." Meanwhile, Republicans are are drawing new congressional maps like it's art class without a vote and it's fine. I can only hope the Dems grow a pair and start playing the same game, but with what happened today, not looking good. Republicans are absolutely rigging the system and elections. We are witnessing the end of democracy in America. Hope you're happy. You voted for it. We ****ing tried to tell you.

Also, what's to stop the left from challenging all these redrawn maps in court? If they have the law on their side, they should. I'm not familiar with the different state constitutions and what they do and don't allow, but the left is as free to challenge as the right did in VA.

VA violated their constitution. Doesn't matter what the vote said. Process wasn't followed. Also, a principal part of our republic is protecting the voice of the minority. Even though both sides seem to have forgotten that. And before you go all rabid I think all of this is nonsense

It would be a dumb move, this isn't about race, it's about consolidating power. The left is doing it, the right is doing it.

What these athletes, and people of color in general should be doing is looking at their representation, asking themselves have the Democrats of color, or even Democrats in general done anything to make them, their neighborhood, their cities any better?

I'm not saying they should dump the Democrat party necassarily, because Republicans haven't really been any better in my opinion. But what I am saying is those votes have been pretty cheap. It's time they start holding those that would represent them to the fire, effect true people of character by action and deed, not rhetoric.

That goes equally for white people....... Everyone!

I guess I'm just sick of these two parties pitting America into two camps to argue at each other while they run is into the ground.

LOL this is a dumb take.

1) every state is gerrymandered on both sides
2) athletes will go where they make the most money and have the best chance at pros
3) no one outside of the political cults care about this issue this much
4) most college athletes aren't even smart enough to understand the issue
5) even in places like Memphis only 16% of the population even voted in the last election so even they don't care

get out of your political bubble some

This is literally insane

It's both sides. If this were a democrat administration, they would have done the exact same thing.
Right, because Biden and Obama both called Governors and demanded states redistrict mid-decade to help them retain control of Congress when their policies were unpopular and they faced backlash at the polls.

Oh wait...

You didn't actually look up why the DOJ sued Texas under Biden, did you?

Doesn't matter anyway, as Biden still didn't respond by calling Democrat Governor's and telling him to redistrict mid-decade and eliminate any Republican districts.

Yea because of the illegal VRA which has since correctly been struck down, proving who was right to begin with

So the Dems are arguing that Election Day is the time that gives them a valid process.

The hypocrisy and irony is in the original LA gerrymander ruling, which was argued in dissent by KJB, that election constitutes when voting started.

Seems there will be many future instances in states about what constitutes an “Election”.

Right, as I stated previously, your consistency with "activist judges" is commendable.
You don't understand constitutional law, it isn't activism to correctly rule what the Constitution actually states

Roe vs Wade, the VRA, etc. aren't overturned out of some huge political swelling of activism, it's because those cases were wrongly decided BY politics the first time.

Taking a real issue like racism or abortion or gay rights and trying to "right it's wrong" by swinging the pendulum so far they produce illegal or illogical positions is what the Dems do well.

It's why the views of Clinton, Obama, Hillary and Biden in 2008 would be considered right wing Nazism this day within the Dem party much like they are doing with liberal Fetterman
