Right before I left work Friday, there was a thread saying that Gerald Williams has been granted permission to practice with the team. I have been away all weekend, and now can't find anymore information regarding G.W. Was this true or just a bad joke?

So if we could, please give information regarding Gerald Williams reinstatement and how this effects the defense.

Williams has not qualified. He IS practicing, but he has one more class he has to have a good grade in to play. He'll get the good grade.

Also, he'll play MLB at first and go to DE on pass rush situations. Hubbs still thinks GW will play more snaps at DE.

Will you swear to this? Cross your heart and hope to die?:) I think I am still skeptical like most of us on here after 3 years of waiting. Maybe this time it will happen.

Are you serious? Besides a few, including me, everyone thinks this guy is the real deal and will contribute immediately.

Yes, I was asking a question...? Not making a statement of doubt (as you seem to have inferred).

And I'm hoping for an answer based on input from those who have seen him on the practice field or playing in JUCO, not just from conjecture based on the culmination of 2 years of third and fourth hand internet legend.

who besides me thinks that he is the meanest looking guy we have on the team? his body frame, speed, stats, and 4 star ranking would get anyone excited. putting his face to these numbers makes him scary imo.

he may be just what we need to compliment rico and the goon squad and restore a swagger on defense that we haven't seen since 2001.

Him and Morley can be head hunters.

McCoy is going to be impressive this year. He look well last year and i think he can dominate the lb position this year if the rest of the lb's does well

And how will someone's opinion of how he looked against Juco comp or how he looked at PRACTICE several years ago be any indication of how well he will do during the season in orange and white. Nobody knows and nobody will until he takes the field and starts making or not making plays. I hope the guys great BTW but have reserves about calling for him to be a starter or immediately dominate the game as many seem to think. I hope he does, I really do.

Don't forget McCoy and McKenzie, those cats love to put on the licks too.[/QUOTE

Dont forget about one of the hardest hitters on our team ERIC BERRY! Plus he put on 15lbs of pure muscle from last year! There are gonna be some big hits next year from our defense!

Because, opinions from informed people are much more meaningful than those wistfully day dreaming and building up something in their mind over the course of 2 years. The opinions I'm seeking would be able to make a pretty good assessment of his ability to contribute, and hopefully, make an impact on the SEC level.

I'm not sure what your point is, to be honest. I'm not ready to anoint him as anything, which is why I was asking in the first place. However, I'm hopeful that the wait and the hype is going to be worth it.

GJ, my point is that there isn't a person on here that can answer your first question because he hasn't played a down of SEC football and what he has done at JUCO means jack crap. We got 3 JUCO's last year that we all supposed to contribute immediately and be super stars based on the informed opinions of those on this board. Maybe 2 turned out ok by the end of the year and one was a complete bust.

Gerald Williams put up ridiculous numbers last year...I think he'll be able to create somewhat of an impact this year
