I think that he would be better out of the backfield, because honestly I just don't see him as an elite receiver. He could be an elite RB though based on him being as shifty as he is and how quick he can get to top speed. I just think it would be a move that would benefit him and us, IMO.

We're already stacked a RB. why take one of our better receivers and move him to RB?

I could see it, but I don't think Kiffin will do it...He would be a good in some kind of option package at RB...IMO

Yeah I think that would work on toss and sweep plays, but I don't see him taking it up the middle.

But yeah that would be awesome.

Let's just run the G gun for the rest of the year and not give the ball to anyone else...

how many passes did he actually throw last year?

Forget the G-Gun. I honestly hope they burnt that play package and shredded what was left. At least if he's lined up in the backfield behind the QB, the defense will be guessing.

Maybe in a slot type position where he could be utilized from various formations but not as a RB. That makes no sense in my opinion.

Despite your point being valid, we desperately need great hands guys to help our QB problem. He has the most experience (especially as a playmaker). We don't need anything to shake the confidence of these fragile QBs

I was thinking the same thing. Not sure how to do it with Kiffin's commitment to an NFL type offense, but I do think if you could find a two-back package, and find a way to get GJ in a slot position...the potential is certainly there. Quick slants..."out and ups"...reverses...WR middle screens. Just thinking out loud.

Maybe a one-back set, TE, two WR's, and GJ in a slot. Make sure the single back is one worth watching.

It certainly seems to have potential.

Then again, we will have to establish our running game, and our QB, before it would have a chance to work.

Go Vols.

OK lets evaluate him at both positions:

WR:
+ Speed
+ Elusiveness with catch
+ Hands and concentration (Kid doesn't drop many)
- Downfield threat (He could easily improve here this year with better QB play)

RB:
+ Breakaway speed
+ Running ablility
+ Vision
- Size (Don't think he could take the beating)
- Tackle breaking ability (He may break one, but can he crash into a crowd and get those "tough yards?")

Good eval....I really don't think Eric is serious though guys....Just kinda kicking stuff around....

I think to line him up back there and try different things is exactly what we are gonna have to do to win a game or two.

I would use Gerald in the slot with Warren and Hancock on the outside since Gerald is smaller, but he can switch directions quickly and has very good hands. He could cause some major problems in the middle.

I fully expect Jones to be an elite receiver before his time is done in Knoxville.

Let's put almost all of our receivers in the backfield because I don't see most of them being elite receivers...
