ESPN just reported that Gerald Jones has a sprained ankle and may be out 4-6 weeks. However UT coaches feel he can be back by UCLA. Wrist, now ankle.

There, my thread starting cherry is popped.

It looks like these freshman WR's are going to have to step up much earlier than we all thought. Get well G.Jones. We're going to need you for UCLA.

High ankle sprains can be debilitating. It crushed Ainge a couple years ago...I wouldn't underestimate that injury.

I'm no where near as concerned with this as I am our D-Line staying healthy this year. Our LBs are not that good and if we get injured on the front, we are going to have more to worry about that than the health of our WRs.

For what it's worth, he walked himself back from practice Saturday. Looked like he walked on it a bit gingerly, but wasn't limping.

At least we aren't the 2009 Mets. Now that's an awful string of injuries. Could you imagine being out Eric Berry, Rico McCoy, Montario Hardesty, and Gerald Jones?

I saw him walking around on the sideline without much of a limp. I don't think he'll be out 4-6 weeks...

that's good. i've sprained an ankle before where walking wasn't going to happen. if he can walk on it, then i'd give it a couple of weeks then he'll be fine.

I did too... They didn't do anything to it, put some ice on it for a minute and that's it.

It always is the worst the next morning.

I hate to say it, but if it is a high ankle sprain they tend to stay with you all season. Hopefully it's not that bad. Gerald toughed it out with the wrist injury during camp and if I recall right he played hurt most of last year so he seems pretty tough and willing to play through injuries.

We will easily beat WKU but we won't have any deep threat whatsoever for that game with Jones and Moore out. We should run the ball 80% of the time.

We beat Vandy and UK last year with that formula, so I'm sure we can do the same against WKU fairly easily.
