Is he a Senior or RS Junior?

EDIT: N/M, he's a Senior.

Obviously I really feel sorry for the victims. I also hate that these players are going thru this. All because of another mans sin.

So, if we land a few of thier LB's, does that mean we can drop a few of the guys we currently have commited?

Man if they could pull Gerald Hodges that would be nice. Guy played high school ball about 20 mins from where I live, seen him play a few times, he's a beast. Plus it would be nice to watch a local SJ kid play for the Vols

When will the PSU players make their decision on if they are staying or leaving. Also how does everyone think these LB will fit in? Come in and start, or are they just to provide depth behind AJ, Maggitt, Lathers, and Smith?

I think R.Neal and M.Lane can outshine S.Redd, with just one year of coaching under J. Graham:good!:

Nothing against Lane...and Neal to a degree...but Redd is on the Doak Walker watch list, and for good reason.

I think Lane has a chance to be a good back but he's yet to prove it....Redd has--for the last two seasons.

If Redd were to come here, he'd be the number 1 almost automatically. He'd split carries with Lane, but Lane would be the #2, without a doubt, IMO.

In that scenario, Neal would be the change-of-pace back or a flanker.

Its not that I don't think a lot of Neal, I do...I just think Lane and Redd are more talented.

This kid is one of the best LBs in the country. Jac Smith would get pushed out of the lineup to get our 4 best LBs on the field.

We have room under the 85 limit and they will be gone next year so it doesnt affect how many we can sign. What is not to like? Also, have you seen our depth chart at lb?

Are you sure about that?

I think the scholarship has to be counted somewhere. If I understand correctly, they are not going to make anyone count the scholarship towards this year's numbers.

So if you have a full 85 this year, and you bring on a senior then he doesn't count towards your total.

Next year you will only be able to sign 24 players because they PSU player will count towards that total even if he is a senior. That was my understanding of the rule.

Not sure what kinda of D PSU runs, and if these guys were starters, but would you want to transfer to a school where you would be a backup. Because it sounds like that is what they would be, having to learn an entire new defense scheme, terminology...etc all in 4 weeks prior to the first game....I would love to have them on board, but from the PSU players point of view not sure it makes a ton of sense.

Unfortunately for the PSU players who choose to transfer, they do not have much time to act. If they want to see any playing time this year on another team, they have to decide quickly and get moved. Fall practice starts soon and game time is just over a month away.

Our own players are learning a new defense. Also AJ and Maggitt were true freshman that started the first game of the season. These guys would be fine. They are exceptional ballplayers.

yeah, but they have had 4+ months to get familiar with it, so they have a big advantage. Granted they may not be to the point of having it second nature, but seems like only having 4 weeks to learn everything would put them at a BIG disadvantage. No matter how bright you are, learning a new system takes time.

We are only offering current PSU players that could make significant contributions this year at positions of need (RB, LB, K).
