Georgia Week

i'm not sure i can find enough match ups right now that translates into a w for us.

there's not much i can point to and say "that's why we'll be UGA", match up wise. if we can't get more than 2 yards on 1st down runs against Umass, not sure how we're going to just "get more efficient" in the run game agasint that front 7.

not sure really how our line will do in pass pro agaisnt them either. i do think our WR's can maybe doe some work agaisnt their DB's. it may not matter though.

defensively, GA has weapons, and a qb that's very efficient. he's not flashy, but he doesn't make mistakes, and GA's o line has gotten better. chubb and michel present a problem, especially agaisnt our LB's. outside, they have speed to spare, and they have TE's that will play in the NFL. agains, against our DB's and LB's, they should be able to move the ball.

i think it will take "uncharacteristic" plaly from both UGA and UT if UT were to win.

the good news...everyone will be telling UGA how great they are, and how bad we are. they'll have to tune out the hype, and we're gonna have to tune out the negativity.

Play ball control, wear out their defense, like you did UF's. Kelly should get 30 carries in this game, then burn them with playaction. On defense, sell-out to stop the run, make them beat you through the air with a true Freshman QB who will be playing in a real SEC road environment for the first time. Neyland needs to be insane! They have one proven WR in Godwin and a pretty good TE, nothing beyond that. UT's d-line matches up well with their o-line. Butch needs to sthu, be as quiet and in the background as he can all week, let his coordinators do their jobs, and stay the hell outta the way. The more he touches stuff, the likelier it is to get botched.

Georgia looks like the most solid team in the east right now. They looked solid yesterday and when they put their foot on the gas they looked impressive. Sadly they also have one of the most impressive recruiting Classes this cycle.

We are going to lose this game. Unfortunately unless we see dramatically different on field motivation and technique we lose big.

We gotta get a new coach in place in time to keep our recruits at the early signing period and hopefully sway a few we weren't expecting due to hype ( if we accidentally make a splash hire). Otherwise our class is going to tank. We cannot afford to fall that far behind in our division.

ok, that's great and all, but still doesn't show me a match up advantage we have.

If you want to settle for 8-9 wins a year go right ahead. I’m not. Tennessee is better than that.

Not really.....when was the last time we won 10+ games? It's been 10 years. This is not an elite program and has not been for a while. People need to realize this is not a "great" coaching job. It may be a top 25 job, but not even close to a top 10 job....

Can UT be an "elite" program again? I hope so but I seriously doubt it.

Dawg fan here. our run D is pretty stout. ND had 55 yards on 37 carries. Giving Kelly 30 carries is bad advice.
I think the best plan against UGA is 4 wides with 3 step drops. A quick pass game plan will be more effective.

If we don't get our 💩 Together the Vols are in for a long day. I really really hope we were overlooking Umass.

UT's d-line versus UGA o-line favors UT.
UT's secondary can handle UGA's WR's.
Kelly and Callaway match up well with anyone.

Beyond that, can't help ya.

We shouldn't have beat the dawgs last year. This year they are better and we are worse. I want UT to win but I'm afraid they boat race us and it is never close.

CBJ loses what little support he has left from the fan base, the wheels come off, and it's 2012 all over again. We start the coaching sweepstakes search again, hire a mid major diamond in the rough coach, we make our return on investment with 8-4 seasons, AD is happy, and 5 years later we are back in the same spot. Rinse, repeat.

Really hope I'm wrong but I believe this is our new reality.

Shoop could really change his perception with Vol Nation by coming up big against UGA this week.

Schmuck, I don't think our D line is favored vs Ga O line. The D line is improved but still not where it needs to be

Godwin and Wims are going to eat Martin for lunch. He's going to have to cover one of them, and can't cover either one.

If Godwin gets Martin in single coverage, go ahead and ring up 6 points.

Go Vols.

I'm interested to hear what their perspective is. If I were a UGA fan, there's no way I would accept losing this game.

While I was impressed by their easy win over Miss State, there is still something in me that says UGA is not all they appear to be. This is largely the same team that lost 5 games last year, someone will expose them. UT always seems to play well v UGA. Butch has a chance to suddenly have a huge bounce-back game, or if he loses, I think he's done at UT. I'm pulling hard for UT in this one.

LOL This is what you call total denial.

I think your first point is a push at best.
You haven't watched it secondary apparently.
We'll see
Agree.

Okey Dokey.
I am an old UGA fan. I have seen >400 UGA games. I saw us beat Bama as a 31 point underdog. I saw us win the NC. I saw the Hobnail Boot.I saw us beat UF 51-0. I also saw us lose to Wake Forrest on Homecoming. I saw us lose to Miami of Ohio in the tangerine Bowl.
Nothing surprises me anymore.
IMO, UGA has the best front seven in the SEC. We have more talent at most positions than UT. I think UGA should win by 2 TDs on paper, but the game isn't played on paper. I will be surprised if UT wins, but I won't be calling for the coach's head. UT has 85 scholarship players too.
They could be fired up and UGA could have a let down.
At least it is a day game. 4 straight night games are rough on an old man.

I'll give it a shot.

There's a lot of excitement, obviously, that we look to be much improved. A lot of young players have stepped up and the vets are playing lights out. The oline is gelling and the defense looks nasty. Fromm is playing well, we have 2 fantastic senior backs, and 3 very good backs (2 soph/1 fresh). We rotate A LOT of players in on both sides of the ball.

That said, under all the fan bluster (which we all know, as fans, is mostly BS), anyone that says they aren't still a bit gun shy about a UGA team laying an egg is probably not being honest.

If we lost this game, people would be pissed. No doubt. Kirby isn't going anywhere any time soon, but UGA fans are ready to see a team come off a big win and look prepared because it has been a while.
