Georgia State Hiring Rob Lanier

Kinda glad he didn't. The success rate for those is fairly low.....
I’m not sure if you’re going to see many of those in the SEC with the arms race now on in basketball.

Whether UT will participate in the race is a different thread...

Congrats to Rob! Happy for his opportunity. If Kennesaw hires Des then it will be interesting to see those guys in Atl and battling each for recruits.
Kennesaw State is a hopeless situation I don't think anyone can turn that basketball program into a winner.

I'd imagine this hurts our odds with Rob's son, too. Not even sure how good he is, so it may not be a big hit, but he'd have been a walk-on either way.

He should follow his dad. From
What I have heard that is the level he needs Anyway

Dang it. That will hurt. Barnes needs to knock this hire out of the park to minimize it.
I am sure that Barnes expected to lose an assistanr coach or two and that his has a list of people he would like to contact. I am nor worried about who he might hire.

If your program is doing well it's likely members of the coaching staff will be hired for head coaching jobs elsewhere
I agree but these are the type of things that you don’t really think about. Sure, everyone was worried about losing Williams and Bone but losing the guys that developed them was something I took for granted.😞
GBO!!

I agree. This is where his experience helps immensely. Knows a lot of people and can talk about the great opportunity here.

I don’t know but I’m concerned that Forbes isn’t even mentioned for power 5 jobs. It’s odd
Maybe the connection with Pearl and the show cause? I honestly have no idea. It is odd like you said

I know getting a former head coach is likely out of the question, but getting Avery would be excellent. Also think AK Andy Kennedy would be great addition.
Don't think either of those men will coach in college again. Never like Avery but Kennedy hung with OM for a long time!

I think he's a good coach but P5 schools aren't going to be beating down the doors to get a low major coach with 1 NCAA appearance, 0 NCAA wins, and prior NCAA trouble.

Maybe some school like GT comes calling but he may need to step up to a conference like the AAC before he gets a P5 job...
