How does this happen? Here's my theory.

The guy that makes a joke in a group of people, laughs hysterically at himself, only to realize nearly an awkward 27 long grueling seconds too late that he's the only person laughing kind of lonely.

Reason nobody else is laughing is because the aforementioned joke was, in fact, not a joke all. Unfortunately for said poster, the "joke" he told was in actuality a horrific story of the untimely death of his friend's mother. The poster is so socially awkward that his lack of people skills led him to mistake his friend's crying for laughter. He didn't "get it" but laughed "with" his friend anyway.

Stored in memory as "joke I don't really get, but it made my friend laugh and he's really a lot cooler than me so maybe I'll seem cool later when I'm with a group of people and maybe people will stop ignoring my phone calls joke".

The rest is history

Stays home. Lives on VN. 9000 posts. 72 likes.
