Georgia Game Scares Me

I've been extremely bullish on our team all year, but this Georgia game scares me. The stars are aligning in a bad way that don't make me very confident we'll win.

(1) We're coming off a huge emotional win at home. A lot of times after emotional win, teams will come out flat and just spent.

(2) Georgia is coming off a huge embarrassment of a game where they got steamrolled. Teams with any heart at all usually bounce back pretty strong after such a loss.

(3) It's at Georgia and always a grudge game. We've been raiding their recruiting grounds for years now. Georgia fans *should* be pumped up.

Hopefully I'm wrong. I felt strong enough about the Gator game to lay down $500 on it. This one... I don't know.

Why should I drink the Cool Aid v. Georgia?

If the coaches call a game like they did against Florida, and Dobbs is able to execute without giving away, we beat them by at least two scores.

1. the gorilla is off their back. they have no reason not to play loose.
2. match ups are what they are, and most of them favor us, just on that alone, is a reason to have confidence.
3. we've known about this stretch on our schedule for well over a year. if we're overlooking GA, in Athens, then we deserve to lose.
4. we have a ton of kids on the roster from GA, they'll want to win this game.
5. it's freaking GA. no way we're going to treat that as a trap game.

bottom line, the hope GA has is exactly what you described...we come in fat, happy and over confident, and they come out with their hair on fire.

if we just leave it to the football stuff, and we play like we've now seen we're capable of playing, no reason not to think we could/should win this game.

Georgia will be as ready as they can be for us, but it won't do them any good. We are talented and ready to see how great our team can be. Vols will make them wish they were playing Ole Miss.

if you are $500 ahead on the year you could easily make it $1000. UT is 3.5 points better than UGA. Hurd is gonna churn out the yardage in this one. Take it to the bank... outer bank.:whistling:

Is it that big dawg mascot they got with the spiked collar or do you just feel claustrophobic between those hedges? :)

Georgia is a good solid team, but not spectacular in any way. With an inexperienced qb. An injured tailback. Not a lot at wideout & a world class chump of a center leading their offensive line. While strong on defense, their unlikely to be better than the Gator D.

Conclusion.... They are not equipped to beat our A-Game. Maybe our "C" keeps it close. But if we come out hot their ass is grass.

look, i don't think GA is garbage or anything. and my main concern is whether or not we see the 2nd half teams against FL and VT or the teams that just "showed up" for Ohio and App.

that said, i just have to believe that the staff and players understand where they are, what lies ahead and now have seen what they can be capable of when they put it together and not press.

just go play and they should be fine.

Oh lawdy.... so many reasons we win this game. Lets just start with if we win this game we pretty much wrap up the east even if we lose the next two (which I don't think will happen). You think Butch doesn't realize this?

If the Dawgs gel and perform to their capabilities, they will be tough to beat at home. Tennessee needs to take it to them for 60 minutes. Do that, and the Vols may leave Athens with a victory.

I can tell you from experience living here that their fans are not pumped. They will get pumped if we let them get an early lead or they are still in it late. But right now they pretty much expect to get waxed. Completely deflated. We can keep that place quiet all day if we can just get an early jump on them.

That being said, we haven't done that yet this year. If we come out hot I think we win big. If not, it's the typical grudge match we've come to expect from this game.

Georgia is who we think they are. A run team trying to transition into a passing team. It will be a failed experiment. Too many square pegs and round holes. You've got Pittman that works well with run blocking OL, and you've got Chaney that likes to throw the ball. Kids that were recruited by Richt for a particular blocking scheme, are being forced to block another way.

I'll give you a few reasons

1) Almost lost to UNC (9 points)
2) Almost lost to Nicholls (2 points)
3) Almost lost to Mizz (1 point)
4) Got killed by Miss (31 points)
5) The FPI says so..

Really? I am always cautious but UGA does not scare me. We have unfinished business to deal with Them if you catch my drift. Last season Bama beat the hell of them and it did help a bit.
1. Their Oline is weak
2. Chubb is questionable
3. Their DBs are garbage
4. They have a freshman QB against our Dline

So that whole Tuttle cheap shot thing was just last years blocking scheme and now they're being forced to block another way? Cool..we got this then Vols Roll!!:dance2:

Very possible Trap Game for Vols, if they don't play well?

Unfortunately Yes!.........SEC Road Games can be brutal:blink:
