George Quarles?

Would this be a possibility? Getting him on this current staff? Proven winner. Won a national title Div II. 9 state titles. Gotta know how to coach some kind of ball.........better credentials than Malzahn when he was brought to major DI from high school.

Fulmer offered him to be a TE coach years ago. I'm sure quarles has had offers for small colleges. He is happy where he is.

There is no doubt Quarles is a good coach and knows football. I don't see him getting a start right out of HS at a place like UT though. Would probably need to start at a smaller college. I know Malzahn did it at AK, and has done well, but that is very unusual.

It might sound crazy, but I think GQ is quite happy being BMOC at Maryville. He is able to be a community hero with football, yet still have good quality time with his family. When he interviewed with UT, he did not yet have a son, iirc, so that may not have been an issue at that time. Additioanlly, his extra title of "Athletic Director" assures that he will remain a very well compensated member of the Maryville School System. He could probably double his salary as an assistant coach at a big school, but it would very much take away from his family time.
