Some of the best kickers we have had were not highly touted guys out of high school, just saying.

What is "by all accounts"? You can at least wait until you see the guy play before you start a thread saying he sucks

Has anyone ever seen anything from this kid that would make you think he was an SEC caliber kicker? I didn't hear any glowing reports on him last year in HS and he wasn't rated highly so I'm trying to figure out what Dooley saw in him. By all accounts he is not doing well at all so far which isn't surprising. Could we not get a walk on kicker as good or better then Bullock and use the scholarship on a linebacker? If we were going to take a flyer on a Knoxville kid I would have much rather have taken Mobley who is a beast at RB but of course I've said that a thousand times. I've tried not to be to critical of Dooley on recruiting but I've never understood offering Bullock.

It would help if you changed the title. You know how we like to put (rumor) on those threads, can you add (call out) on yours? Thanks.

I think I'll let a freshman develop a bit and actually play in some games before I list him as a failure. It is unfair to judge any college player as a bust until they have progressed far into the system including maturing both mentally and the weight room.

Why list a location if you don't live in that location? I've never understood that.

So you live in KnoxVegas? Is that anywhere close to Dooley Mountain? Why use TnGlen if it's not really your name? It's the internet what does it matter where I live?

I didn't say he sucks!! Read my post again and tell me where it says he sucks. Reading and comprehension are not strong suits for people on here. I question whether he is a SEC caliber kicker and whether we couldn't have got someone just as good to walk on instead of giving a scholarship to a less the top tier kicker. As far as seeing him play I've seen him play several times in HS and he didn't look like a college kicker. Have you heard anyone say he is kicking the ball well? Completely the opposite he is 1-4 in scrimmages so far and all the kicks were inside the 40.

''sec calliber" doesnt really apply to a kicker.

Again read my post I never called him a bust or a failure. I simply questioned whether he was good enough for a scholarship. Even back when we had more scholarships to give kickers routinely had to walk on and then earn their scholarship.

While I realize we need to recruit the top players in order to compete in the SEC, I like the idea of taking a couple of local kids every year. I think it helps to have a few incoming players whose hearts were with the program before they were ever recruited, even if they're not tops at their position.

Enough with Mobley! He will never be an SEC calibar running back. The kid has no speed what so ever

Your so wrong I know it's Kentucky but Joker has already talked about Mobley being a special back and the best freshman he's had since he's been there. Some of you are so stubborn would you really rather have Bullock over a 225 running back that is strong as an ox with enough speed? He's faster then Alden Hill so he must not have Sec speed either.

Totally agree I'm all for taking Knoxville kids. I just want to take the right ones.

I thought the handler threads were started in the recruiting forum?

Mobley ran a 4.82 40 at UT's summer camp. No speed, on the other hand, Alden Hill runs 4.6 and had a decent academic record. Mobely not so much. We will see what he does at Kentucky and vs UT. But believe he will never have break away runs in college like he did against feeble competition. Also, he is not 225 he is 210 at most.

Who said anything about Mobley having break away speed? I would take 5 yards a carry all day long especially compared to what we have been getting. Now back to George Bullock.........or not. I rest my case on all fronts.
