i don’t care for Vandy or their QB, their coach, or their fans. But you have to give the devil his due. They were the better roster and you have to ask how this happened. They were one of the first teams to utilize a General Manager position to help with the roster. Clearly they had a portal-heavy plan. That showed up on the lines of scrimmage.

Our coach MUST start to delegate but he does not have a strong staff. Coach cannot call plays and manage timeout or end of half strategy. He cannot manage both the NIL cap and recruit/host. He does not have time to manage the media so he chooses not to.

A GM is a much stronger version of the player personnel role that the coach hand picks. Heupel is not going to get fired, but im open to anything else.

The GM is an absolute necessity for the program to move forward. The benefits it will give to the coaching staff are numerous and valuable and allow the coaches to focus on the areas they are strongest in and not spread so thin.

I don’t want Heupel gone (yet). He has been a lifesaver from where the program started at the beginning of his tenure. But it’s clear that he has some deficiencies that are not being addressed or delegated elsewhere. He can start by addressing our DC situation and make wholesale changes there. Meanwhile, DW needs to get serious about a GM.

According to Vol quest, Billy High has been that for us. So stop looking for excuses for Heupel. Also try to stay informed a little bit.

Maybe Billy High isn’t a very good GM then? I say that partially in jest, but something is very wrong with how things are going in this program.

Heupel is on track to be out of here in a couple of seasons if he doesn't make significant changes to how he manages this program. The schedule gets much tougher the next couple of seasons and there aren't a lot of difference makers on this roster right now. Add to that you are likely breaking in a new bridge QB next season and another new QB probably McIntyre/Brandon in 2027.

Heupel is looking up a pretty daunting climb the next couple of years if he wants to progress this program.
