Great post. I 100% agree. The UNC defense was nasty when he was the DC there. Now, would he want to coach is the better question. But, I believe he would do a great job

If that’s the case why hasn’t he been coaching since he got canned? If he is so good and did such a great job, then why haven’t a bunch of teams tabbed him for DC? Why disnt Mack Brown call him up?

But yeah griddle we should be calling a guy who hasn’t coached in almost 5 years. Lol.

Seems to me he did his best work (as a DC) at Auburn and Texas in the early 00's. He improved UNC from 120th in Total D to 96th (?) and 67th (?) in the 2 years he was there, but still that's middle of the pack work as a DC.

He's a Kiffin protege', I think. In today's game, playing the Tampa 2, or a similar variant, is a recipe for giving up 40 a game.

If he's hired I'll support him 100%, but I hope we get somebody else. Younger, hungrier, more motivated, and familiar with the pace of todays' game.

I read a couple of days ago Chizik's name mentioned in a list for the UCF job....He was the DC there 1998-2001 which I had forgotten.

But yeah...He got a good buyout from Auburn and seems to enjoy his job with the SECN....Which he's good at, IMO.

He’s been around football. And he hasn’t forgotten. He wanted to spend time with his daughters before they graduated and that’s what he did. Mack just might, he knows him well and good coaches.

He inherited a train wreck of talent and defense at UNC. In 2014 UNC ranked 120th giving up 40 points a game. In the first year with Chizik the UNC defense moved to 42nd overall and shaved off 16 points per game. That’s including the Baylor fiasco which again was on Fedora. In 2016 UNC was 43rd overall and the same scoring wise.
In 2017 Chizik is gone and UNC is 88th overall and allowing 8 more points per game. In 2018 UNC is 106th overall and allowing over 11 more points a game.
Just saying the guy is damn good and we’d be more than fortunate to have him. And he’s worked with Garner

As opposed to shelling out 1.5 million to guys who haven’t even called plays? I have a feeling you will get your wish and it’s going to play out in pretty bad fashion. Maybe we hire some one with experience we will see

I don't like Chizik personally. Just don't like his personality. I think he was always overrated as a HC. If he's the right DC hire then I'll support him because my desire to see UT succeed is more important than my personal like/dislike of a coach.
