Gene Chizik as DC?

Like a lot of assistants/coordinators, the guy has been around. "Honey, we're moving to Nashville!" "Honey, we're moving to Austin!" Honey, we're moving back to bumf--k Al-a-bama." Except for auburn, he's lived in some nice towns--Nashville, Austin and Chapel Hill.

Look up Gene Chizik on Wikipedia... Who's gonna argue with them?

Actually, I did because I have not kept up with him since left Auburn and do not like hire as much as before looking him up. He played at Florida, and it seems people have figured him out because he has not done much since early DC years. Now I do think he could recruit, but we have talent now we need coaching imo.

Btw, people edit Wikipedia all the time to get things like this stated.

Would be interesting to have our very own AU bag man on staff. I'd guess recruits dads would love the hire. "I swear my son didn't know".

I see Chizik makes 700 grand a year at UNC. Pretty substantial increase over what Jancek made.

Chizik is a heck of a DC, and his history shows it. He's also a good recruiter. He was never cut to be a HC, but he knows defense. He'd be a home run hire for this staff, if it's not Shoop.

Absolutely home run hire. Prefer him over Shoop myself. Either would be great

Back up plan imo

Just glad we are back to the point coaches are contacting us showing interest instead of where we were and few years ago.

Chizik would be a great DC ... but I would be weary of hiring a coordinator that could leave in a year and might take key parts of your staff with him.

This DC hire is really important because next year is the year we could/should make the playoffs.

We all know the ol' inspect element trick. I could make a Nation Headline on the ****ing NYT that says ol' Darth Shiveman Butt Chugs Beers. But hey whatever floats ur boat.

:zeitung_lesen:

So you know the ol' inspect element trick, but you don't know that anyone and everyone can edit Wikipedia? You're better than that.

I would like it and personally think it would be a significant upgrade. While he had a tough bowl game, those results appear to be the outlier and his talent at Chapel Hill is not as good as he would have here. The "good recruiter" part should be part of the prerequisites for this position. Just please no more 3-4 BS....An additional perk here is that he knows the SEC, which has been a fairly consistent gripe here about Jones' staff.
