Gators Suck

Exactly. Florida had no one playing and those that did play, didn’t want to be there. I’m all for the Gators losing, but everyone needs to pump the brakes acting like this was some big indicator. It wasn’t.

Bama rarely has that problem cause they hold the final cash payment until after the bowl game.

Florida didn't want to be in that Bowl Game and it showed.
I would fine-tune that a bit, Border.

Florida didn't want to be in that bowl game AFTER THEY WENT DOWN 0-17 OFF THREE HORRIBLE DECISIONS BY THEIR QB.

At the start of the game, they were fired up. They were energetic, eager, confident, ready to roll. Their head coach was talking about how the future is now, and all. The younger players were eager to show what they could do. The older players were leading and engaged. Then Trask sucked all the energy out of them with three tosses of the ball.

THEN they didn't want to be in the bowl game. Unfortunately, they still had like 3.5 quarters to go.

The Cotton Bowl participants-Florida and Oklahoma provide a stark contrast of two fully functioning
athletic departments-vs-the current dysfunction of Tennessee. All three are well-funded, legacy-rich
schools; in football and other athletic endeavors.

Unfortunately for UT, poor leadership has led to a serious decline in it's on field performance and the
program's overall reputation nationally.

Oklahoma-following Switzer, went through three coaches from the late '80's until '99 until hiring the
successful Bob Stoops, then upon his retirement-Lincoln Riley and his multi-Heisman winning tenure.

Florida-post Meyer, has struggled with lightweight coaches but have easily dispatched Tennessee
annually. They snatched Mullen away from UT after Chip Kelley, their initial choice chose to coach
UCLA, following the '17 season when both programs were hiring new Coaches.

The aftermath including hiring/de-hiring/rejections/firing the AD and ultimately turning the search over to
former HC Fulmer and the hiring of Jeremy Pruitt probably displays the level of leadership of the three
programs more succinctly than anything on the field ever would.

So when college players start "getting paid", can the universities demand they play in postseason, meaningless games. That'd be poetic justice, huh?

Also. the playoff needs to be expanded. No one cares about these now meaningless bowl games. The players don't care, the fans don't care, the TV crowd doesn't care, …..etc

Me thinks you vastly over estimate the roster talent.
Smiley faces and stars given to high school children are nice for mommy and daddy to put on the refrigerator door.
Putting players in the NFL is the judge of talent and all the top players are concerned about.
The draft says nobody has been impressed with Vol talent.
To think any of the coaches that you mention could contend for a championship with the Tennessee roster is pure folly.
Very few players on our team would get playing time, much less start, at FL, GA, or AL.
Very few will be drafted in the early rounds.
Show me were I said they could win a championship? I said could be competitive. Meaning not being blown out by double digits to every team we face. I never once said we had a championship roster. But there is plenty of great athletes on our roster that with the right coaching could elevate their play....with the right coaching.

First time I ever saw flarduh quit. I'd criticize them if there was any excuse AT ALL for a Vols fan to talk about any other team in the conference. We turned to a Christmas movie we'd already watched 4 times mid way through the 3rd. quarter.

I didn’t even watch after reading Florida was basically fielding their 2nd string on offense. Figured it would be a $hit show and obviously it was. Always nice to hear when the gator jorts lose though. Nasty fan base.

The choice of opting out was a one-season, covid-based anomaly. It goes away with 2020.

Now, players declaring for the NFL draft who choose to skip their team's bowl game to preserve their health, that's another matter. One that has been evolving for several years. I don't think we've yet seen its peak. But I also don't think it's a cause for concern, unless teams that get into the playoffs start having players skip. I don't think that has happened. Yet.

p.s. Gators still suck. Haha!

Dude, We have made Gundy rich enough with the previous coaching searches. Florida still pounded us, our end of the game touchdowns were pure garbage time.

Gus, Freeze or bust
Gus? Vol fans are crazy. Why Gus? He couldn't get it done at dirty Auburn. He will not sniff success at UT. Has never been able to get a QB. Lost to Pruitt in Pruitts first year. We'll never beat Ga again.

I read where a FL player, when asked what he thought of OK, said they were a good team but not at FL's level as they were not an SEC team. Pretty dumb statement since OK has been in the playoffs something like 3 of that last 4 yrs. They intentionally but a beatdown on them. And FL was missing all of their starting receivers. Not unhappy with the end result.

Never had a losing record. I think you are missing something

I changed the channel also, only I started watching The Godfather II. For some reason, seeing all the behind-the-seasons stuff and guys getting whacked made the end of 2020 somewhat symbolic.

Still don't make him a good hire. In his 9 years as a HC, he has only had two, 10 win seasons. He avgs out to 8 wins a year.

That may be better than where we CURRENTLY are, but our goal is championships, not 8 win season's

Agreed.

I think Trey Smith is the only player on this team that cracks the top 3 rounds currently. Everyone else is Day 3 or UDFA.
I hope Trey's health issues do not hold him back to the latter rounds. My favorite Vol.
Toward the end of last year, I thought he was a man playing with boys.
This year,,,,,, everyone sucked.

If they do get paid then they pay for their education and they pay the entertainment tax required.

Oklahoma would of definitely been another loss. They would of boat raced us unmercifully........

This game was similar to us playing Vandy with Vandy barely having enough players to field a team. This bowl game was a joke before it even started. If Florida played with the same team they did against Alabama they would have won by 4 touchdowns.

Not sure if serious 🤔 Yes Florida was down six starters, most of them were on offense. Unless Pitts, and Toney decided to become linebackers, I fail to see how that would have mattered much in their complete lack of a rushing defense

Oklahoma proved it tonight and pounded Florida by FIVE touchdowns. And some around here think we need Pruitt back for another losing season and another loss to Florida?

Maybe we should hire the Oklahoma HC if we don't get Freeze.

UF was without several key players, but yes clearly not their best effort.

I only wish UT "sucked" as bad as the Gators this season. We would all be pretty happy if they had.

And Lincoln Riley is not about to leave OK for TN. With the lunacy of our fanbase and the incompetence of our administration, no coach of Riley's caliber would even consider coming to Knoxville. Not for any amount of money.

I don't know about that. But, I have it on good authority that Florida showed up to collect that NY6 money for themselves and the league.

You're welcome.

Wonder how much of the NY6 money went up their nose while in Dallas?

And thank you.
