Gators in N/C.Good for them and SEC.

I try to be a good conference man in bowl season and support the SEC, but there are three teams for whom I have difficulty. (I don't think I even have to say which three.) Still, I can usually manage to grit my teeth and root for the conference in the Citrus or Sugar or Cotton or whatever.

I'm not going to be able to root for UF, though. Not in the national championship game. I was sitting in my local pub here in Atlanta on Friday night before the SECCG and a whole gaggle of Gator Guys came in in their orange and blue jumpsuits, pounding shots like amateur sorority girls and yelling GO GATORS! before each one. Doing the chomp. In. An. Irish. Pub.

I just can't root for that fanbase to be sporting 2006 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS sweatshirts in a month. If they were just playing OSU in the Sugar Bowl, sure. But I can't root for them to win the Mythical National Championship, not with Chris Leak and the phantom roughing the passer call and Meyer twice suspending his drug-addled players the week AFTER conference games this year. With apologies to LG -- who seems he'd be like a great guy to go to the UT-UF game with and drink beer with afterwards -- the Gator Nation can still be the most smug, obnoxious fanbase in the conference. I just can't root for them to win it all.

(And I would expect the same from Gator fans: cheer for us in our meaningless Steakhouse or Credit Card or Chicken Shack Bowls, and then root against us if you want when we're in the big game. That's fair.)

Great, a national championship game between my two LEAST favorite schools.

I'll cheer for Florida on the basis of:
1) It's an SEC school...and two all-time titles doesn't threaten 6
2) I hate Ohio State more than can possibly be imagined. I would love nothing better than for this entire area to be shrouded in mourning for....well, at least a week or so. I figure it'll dominate the evening local news up through July anyway, so might as well see the scarlet-clad bums miserable until then.

i agree with you. it's easier to hate OSU and their fans than anything else. anything.

My feelings exactly! I don't buy this crap that you have to root for a team because they are in your conference. Like saying you are pulling for a brother-in-law, who beats your sister, because he is in the family!

Go Buckeyes!:clapping:

Got to go for SEC teams. I am tired of the media thinking the BIG 10 or Pac 10 is top to bottom better than the SEC

as much as i HATE the gators, i gotta go for em cause its the SEC.. Ive been on some other boards and the majority of the peaople say that the big10 is better than the SEC.. so if Florida wins then they will finally shut up... it's for the SEC, not the gators!!!

Please don't be an SEC homer. UF already recruits well enough. We do not need to see them recruiting a 2008 class like the one Texas is taking in this year. Do you just want to bestow the title of "dynasty" on the Gators for the next few years? If not, then pull for OSU to plaster them. A huge loss in such a big game will probably hurt them Gators a lot more than any benefit they could hope to get by saying that they at least played in the CG. If you can't root for OSU then at least stay neutral.

It's enough for me that the Vols will get a share in the $ from the National Title game(I'm assuming they have to share thats just like any bowl). Our guys this season have improved....drasticaly at WR and QB......the o and d linemen need work, and if not this next year definately the following year if the same results show the position coaches need a last check and a door opened. Adtkins imho is on probation as far as i'm concerned...and the D line gets a free pass due to injury . I'm worried about the trend SEC football is heading, back to option offenses...is our recruiting addressing that?....are we recruiting DE's and safetys who can defend the option? All in all it was a healing season imho, and we have to be satisfied with that. I look forward to the game with Penn State, and next seson...that is all.

Exactly!!

I'll be rooting for UT, too.

Still sort of in shock over this one. Florida came within one play of losing, what, three or four games? Yet somehow managed to eek out W's. Now have to show we belong.

I will pull for the gators as they represent the SEC.

Congrats LG! Once again FLA is the measuring stick! Phil's gotta love that!

Not that it matters who we pull for, but I think FL is going to need all the help it can get. Unless Chrissy Leak has an out-of-body Joe Montana experience, I'm afraid they are going to get their clock cleaned.

First and foremost as an Ohioan I'd love nothing better than for the most overrated team in the country, THE osu Suckeyes to sufer a loss in the NC game against a team from the SEC! I have so many people in my life that truly believe the Big 10 is actually the measuring stick by which college football is measured, that I would love to have the opportunity to rub it in their faces that the Big 10 doesn't hold a candle to SEC football.

I know for a fact that if OSU, Mich, Wisc., or any member of the Big 10 had to play our schedule in the SEC they would be a 3-4 loss team every single year!

Could be a Win/Win either way: If OSU wins then Tressell could realize he's not challenged by college football anymore and take the Cleveland Browns HC job, which is a strong rumor right now in Ohio. And if they lose then the Big 10 advocates can shut the hell up!

Regardless you'll notice that I'm rooting only for OSU to lose! I would have regardless of whomever they played, but that being said I'd love to see them lose to an SEC school, even if it is the hated Florida.

I agree with you. The year was a success for the most part. Still, alot of questions/concerns to be addressed; but, 10-3 potentially is much better than 5-6. It was a tough schedule and we could have used a couple of breaks in our favor. All in All, the next few years could be special. I look forward to finding out.

A lot of forecasts on here that the Alligators won't be able to play with OSU.
I'm of the opinion that the FL defense is fast enough, and strong enough, to give anybody fits. 2 big plays from the offense and 1 from special teams, and Florida wins this game.

Congrats LG, NCGatorbait and all local Gator fans. Am torn on this one. The Gators do deserve to be in the NC game. Good luck.
