On a business level not sure I understand this. So Gatorade still exists and now there is Tiger Gatorade also? Same price? Tiger Gatroade has 25% more electrolytes...so why would I buy regular Gatorade? Perhaps I am overthinking this..segment the market.

The market is getting sliced up as it is...they're just trying to get two slices rather than one.

Understand this. A consumer switching from regular Gatorade to Tiger Gatorade does nothing for them. Only helps them if the consumer switches from a competing company to Tigerade. I guess I can see that.

On a side note:

FDA reports drinking Tigerade induces CHOKING.

:eek:lol:

That's what I was thinking of. I'd imagine that Gatorade is looking to expand beyond it's "core" buyers with this new product...

The market for sports drinks is probably flattening. Gatorade may be trying to take share from PowerAde even though they will cannibalize traditional Gatorade sales. So long as the net revenue gain outweighs the costs having the additional line, it will make financial sense.

Get ready for PowerAde with increased electrolytes!

I'm still waiting for Absolut Gatorade to come out. I hear the vodka hits your bloodstream 25% faster!
