Gator fan's take on the game

losing hunter for us, is like the bulls losing jordan or the lakers losing KOBE right after the jumpball and a easy score(since he had 1 catch). The confidence they bring to a team can not be duplicated. Any team young or old, when they lose there superstar it becomes tough. prime ex: PEYTON MANNING and the Colts.... I think we will bounce back from this lost, this was something we could not be prepare for. cdd we have some deep scars now, coach them up and lets win some games. 8-4 is not out the question.......lets go vols

Meh, injuries happen. It's part of the game. We lost. End of story.

Muschamp embarassed himself and gator nation with that halftime show he put on. It's just as bad, if not worse, as Kiffin running his mouth like he did, which I seem to remember many gator fans bellyaching about. Yeah, it turned out Kiffin was a bigger sleaze than we knew, and Muschamp may not be, but then again, give him time. Nothing's set in stone

Coming here to rub it in under the guise of being "friendly", not so classy. You're repping the gator nation well. Kudos.

The parts UT fans will agree with are listed first:

1. I feel bad for Hunter. the kid seems like a good all-around student-athlete and it sucks he got hurt. When he got hurt I told my wife "Oh no, please don't be an ACL."

2. Impressed with Da'Rick Rogers post-game. very well-spoken young man and a heck of a talent

3. Bray is going to be fine. The kid can play the QB position and I think he will be ok down the road. he is young and needs to work on things, but he will be fine.

4. You have the right coaching staff for this time in your program. Dooley and his bunch have shown they can recruit with the best of them and get the right kids for the program.

Parts you won't agree with and/or might make you mad:

1. UT lost Hunter, but nobody mentioned Florida was without 3 starters due to injury, inlcuding our best cover corner and our best red zone TE. It sucks, but you have to make adjustments. Sure Hunter was a crucial loss, but I maintain we weren't coming in with all our bullets either.
2. Surprised we had the most penalities on our team in 15 years, dropped 5 picks, and still won by double-digits. if we had anyone worth a darn on defense who could catch, the game would have been a blowout.

3. Muschamp getting fired up is what we need as a program. I see alot of people on here saying what a douche, he is a jerk, etc.........all while Meyer was quiet and had a different demeanor, which meant he is an arrogant prick, pompous, etc. I just want to win. I don't much care how my coach acts on the field in the heat of a game. You start focusing on that as something to go after and you have already lost and are nit-picking on nonsense.

4. We can't keep relying on Rainey so much, but it shows our lack of talent in several glaring areas, mainly WR. I think this game showed what i have been saying..........we have a weak secondary, and we don't have alot of depth in alot of areas or playmakers, and we haven't recruited nearly as well as people like to think.

Here's to Hunter's speedy recovery.

If you take Rainey out, you loose that game. That should tell you how much of an impact it was to loose Hunter.

I like how some of you can use the Hunter example, but when florida fans list starters they were missing "it doesn't count" or "not the same thing."

Missing a starter is missing a starter, but obviously some have more of an impact than others. Just don't act like UF missing 3 starters means nothing.

That's incorrect. If you are already missing a player, he isn't in the game plan. When a player goes down early, both coaches know the game plan has to change and the advantage is 100% to the D.
This is common sense. If you have played at a competitive level before and have watched the most dynamic player on your team go down, you'd understand the challenges of filling his spot with someone who didn't get the first team reps and the mental state of the team after watching it happen.
It doesn't compare to being without players who didn't practice with the first team in the first place.

The only difference is that Florida was able to prepare in practice as if those guys were not going to play. Tennessee expected Hunter to participate in the entire game. He was in our game plan. Reed and Brown were not expected to play. Injuries happen and who knows if we would or would not have won if Hunter had played, but the injury situation to starters is not entirely the same in both cases.

IMHO

Hunter was not the deciding factor in this game. Tennessee looked very weak in multiple areas - poor tackling, poor special teams, poor offensive play calling.

What's bad is that FL looked shaky at best- not a good team, not a top 20 team - and TN couldn't capitalize on FL's mistakes to win the game.

Muschamp is an a$$, and I think that Waco will change his tune soon enough - we used to have a coach where we said the same thing "don't care how he acts, just win" and then he bolted for USC. I don't know which is worse, Muschamp close to heart failure all the time or fat-a$$ Weiss having to sit down on the bench because he's out of breath from walking around a little.

If I'm a FL fan, I am more concerned about the team now than last week, and I'm thankful to get out of there with a win.

As a TN fan, I saw nothing that lead me to believe that as a team TN is making any progress whatsoever. Dooley has to win in the SEC or he's not right for the job, period. That FL game was a win-able game.

The game could have been really close except for a couple of costly mistakes:

1) Punt blocked
2) Missed coverage on RB gives FLorida easy 80 yd+ TD reception.

Losiong Hunter hurt the offense a lot too. Those don't happen different game.

Don't base your offense around one player! What'd we have neg 9 rush yards. WOW remember when we ran smash mouth football and ran it down peoples throats till the proved they could stop us? That's what drew me to the SEC.

Hunter stays healthy we still lose based on the way we played. Justin Wilcox better have the entire defense tackling and back to the fundamentals. The score does not reflect how out played we were. Yea blame it on the first big road test for a young team, fact still remains we are talking about a D1 football program they should be prepared.

It's official we are a bottom feeder of the SEC. The sayings true "you don't know what you have till it's gone." sorry Phil we really messed that one up!

I agree with 95% of this. Playcalling is where we disagree. With no one to stretch the field and no running back, I was actually fine with the plays. Both of Brays picks were on him. Two bad throws, two picks. Still, we lost the game on D seeing as UF has no offense. JMO
