Gator fan's take on the game

The parts UT fans will agree with are listed first:

1. I feel bad for Hunter. the kid seems like a good all-around student-athlete and it sucks he got hurt. When he got hurt I told my wife "Oh no, please don't be an ACL."

2. Impressed with Da'Rick Rogers post-game. very well-spoken young man and a heck of a talent

3. Bray is going to be fine. The kid can play the QB position and I think he will be ok down the road. he is young and needs to work on things, but he will be fine.

4. You have the right coaching staff for this time in your program. Dooley and his bunch have shown they can recruit with the best of them and get the right kids for the program.

Parts you won't agree with and/or might make you mad:

1. UT lost Hunter, but nobody mentioned Florida was without 3 starters due to injury, inlcuding our best cover corner and our best red zone TE. It sucks, but you have to make adjustments. Sure Hunter was a crucial loss, but I maintain we weren't coming in with all our bullets either.

2. Surprised we had the most penalities on our team in 15 years, dropped 5 picks, and still won by double-digits. if we had anyone worth a darn on defense who could catch, the game would have been a blowout.

3. Muschamp getting fired up is what we need as a program. I see alot of people on here saying what a douche, he is a jerk, etc.........all while Meyer was quiet and had a different demeanor, which meant he is an arrogant prick, pompous, etc. I just want to win. I don't much care how my coach acts on the field in the heat of a game. You start focusing on that as something to go after and you have already lost and are nit-picking on nonsense.

4. We can't keep relying on Rainey so much, but it shows our lack of talent in several glaring areas, mainly WR. I think this game showed what i have been saying..........we have a weak secondary, and we don't have alot of depth in alot of areas or playmakers, and we haven't recruited nearly as well as people like to think.

Here's to Hunter's speedy recovery.

Agree, except to say that Florida had a week to prepare knowing the players they would be missing. A young Tennessee team got hit in the mouth in the midst of the fight and didn't know how to respond when Hunter went down.

I wonder if I can find "5 missed tackles" on the tape that if Tennessee had made, it would've been a different game.

You had 83 yards where one guy managed to reach paydirt without even being touched. But, I'm sure you could probably find other scoring plays where your fellars missed a tackle :whistling:

No offense, but this is just fantasy now. I have not and am not clinging to the fact we could have had more INTs. I did say that both our teams could not hold on to the ball. Rogers had a few crucial drops in the second half that could have changed the game around. Florida's WRs can't catch to save their lives. I think this was a sloppy game from both our teams.

I absolutely hate playing the "What if" games here, but I have heard too many times over the past couple of days from Florida fans that Florida had "at least 10 more interceptions" that were dropped or missed. That type of hypothetical crap gets me because there are many hypothetical "big play" what-ifs that can go both ways. I simply brought that one up because I have heard so many of those this weekend.

As a rival, I like hearing this. It means they are doing something right. I personally think Dooley is going to win his fair share of games against us very shortly and I've been saying that since he was hired. He's doing a hell of a job building your program up. I'm not going to call Dooley any names because I am a guest on your board but he is a coach that our fan base will be fearing in the near future.

That's great. Again, I don't think Muschamp is near the coach that Meyer was. Muschamp is a good defensive mind, but not head coaching material. He is a product of the area around him. Great area in LSU... Texas.. and now Florida. You will ask any Tennessee fan on here and they will tell you they feared Meyer more than they will fear Muschamp.

My question to you is how many people are calling Dooley an arrogant ass, or a douche? I am interested to see. The only thing could maybe stem from the war comments he made last year, but other than that I haven't see a single time where Dooley has shown those traits. It took Muschamp three games.

Again, not coming from me. We are a young team outside of Brantley, Demps and Rainey. You can't count Deonte Thompson because he's all butterfingers. Your team is young too. I agree that we have talent, but that talent didn't show last season. There were a lot fo question marks heading into this game from both our squads and this game did nothing to answer them for my team. Your team has a lot of them answered. They fought back, never gave up and almost won.

I honestly do not see any talent on Florida's offensive side of the ball outside of Rainey/Demps. Maybe Thompson, and he was a 5 star/high 4 star if I do remember. An All-American at least. Zero running game and no play-makers on the outside will result in Florida losing against teams with real defenses (Tennessee played a hell of a game but just does not have the defense/speed that it used to). It looks like the John Henderson's and the Albert Haynesworth's and Leonard Little's are on Florida now.

Florida's D-Line is top 5 in the country at least, and that is maybe only behind LSU and Alabama. Look at Tauren Poole's rushing yards. I don't care if those guys are "young". They were blue chip, program changing recruits (again that Muschamp inherited because of Meyer and not his own doing) that had an effect on the game.

Depth also... Which team is deeper? Two true freshman starting at LB and a converted third string offensive lineman starting at DT...

Fair enough. Although, it is pretty ironic that the op was the one who was crying about how much Florida lacked in talent for months now.

Florida lacks experience moreso than talent in the secondary.

Brantley and our receivers lack talent necessary to win a championship.

Or 2 true freshmen starting in the secondary and a converted QB as your 3rd down tough yardage back?

Waco congrats and good luck rest of the year. Can't wait til next year when you guys have a new QB starting his first road game at Neyland without Rainey and Demps. Who knows what will happen will have to wait and see. Enjoy the banter on here it gets amusing at times

Thank you for your service to this country. In the grand scheme of things, your sacrifice allows us the opportunity for the banter and not having to worry about being shot at by someone sworn to kill us. Your post comes at a great time................you have people who can start seeing red they get so mad because their team lost a football game from the comfort of their own living room, and forget there are patriots like yourself stuck in a desert taking bullet rounds from Islamic nuts.

Kudos to you.

Two more weeks and i be one of those dudes in my living room drinking a cold one. I actually got to watch the game was nice to see my Vols respond when down 30-7. I saw a blowout coming and a total board meltdown. At least we fought back i like Dooley and we are headed in right direction

I expect more people to rep my statement.

Not only do we have what GATechVol mentioned but we also have a converted CB at FS (Waggner). A converted WR at CB (Teague). A converted FB at MLB (Aus. Johnson).

You're not winning this one, Gator.

Still laughing at the 5 dropped picks.

Have they been talking about this all day on the gator boards? Every gator fan is mentioning it, like Muschamp sent out a talking points memo.

While we're at it, can we get back all of the dropped passes, the blocked punt, etc.?

I was watching the gamecast and it seemed that anytime that a Gator defender had a Pass Broken Up it was "a missed INT". Literally.

Florida had 8 passes defensed and their fans think 5 should have been picks? No.

I'll give them the one break-up that Elam had in the corner that was thrown into double coverage. That really should have been an INT. But that's about it.

You didn't watch the right game then. Marcus Roberson dropped an easy pick and so did J. Jenkins.

Injury to Hunter sucks. As soon as it happened I was like "oh damn, UT is done," but I hoped it was just a tweak and that he would be OK, but we all knew it was ACL as soon as it happened.

Other notes:

The UF secondary isn't that bad. They're fast and aggressive. Honestly, they only gave up 6 Yards per attempt to a very strong passing team. Bray only completed 55% of his passes and UF had 2 INTs. 3 of those 7 penalties on PI were ticky tacky, just like the one called on UT. The fact that they hold when they're beaten is good on the deep stuff, as giving up big plays was a huge issue last year, but holding on 5 yard slant patterns is stupid and was just inexperience. Hopefully UF gets better on that. Jeremy Brown returning will really strengthen this defense a lot. UF misses his experience and skill right now.

UF has to rely on Demps and Rainey. They are UF's best players and that's what college football is all about. Ride your best players as far as they can take you. The key for Florida is that Brantley and the role players have to step up and help out, and against Tennessee, that didn't happen and it allowed UT to hang around.

The procedural penalties in the RZ have to be cleaned up and Muschamp needs to chill a bit. I like the passion and energy, but he lost his mind at halftime and that's a bit foolish.

Last thing I'll say is UF's DL is going to be amazing.
Judging by your favorite teams, i would say thats a fair weather fan.. Just saying...

During the game as I observed Florida's lack of overall offensive talent, I thought to myself, "Oh. THAT'S why Urban retired." In related news, I think most UF fans are probably as ill prepared to be routinely 2nd best in the East as UT fans are for being 4th.

With our 2 missed field goals it would have been a 4 point game. Might have changeed the game some, might not have , but the field position would have been changed some, and that might have made some difference. It might have fired up our defense a little anyway. I just wish we had a dependable FG kicker.

lol.....that's all i can say....lo ******* l......the whole hunter comparison to UF's starters....that is funny as hell....we were missing one of the best wr's in the SEC...but what they were missing was equal....LMAO!

Pretty sure it was 1 missed FG.
