Gator fan's take on the game

The Florida guys on here are only posting this crap because deep down inside they KNOW that the game would be different, no matter how many interceptions were dropped, etc.

No doubt the game would have been different. I never said it wouldn't have been. Losing Hunter is the equivalent of us losing Percy Harvin. He is that much of a game changer. Would he have been the difference in a win or loss? Who knows. Unfortunately we weren't able to find out.

They know it. Hunter is a game changer. The same way Harvin was. Hunter IS Tennessee's offense. I don't know how somebody in their right mind can say that not having Hunter in the game DID NOT change the landscape of the game. It's ridiculous. Bray had the TE and Rogers to throw to, and Rogers was held/double teamed the rest of the game. If Hunter is in there, that does not happen. Everyone knows that.

Yeah, I agree. Even without Hunter, Bray never gave up and almost willed his team to victory. He will be exciting to watch the rest of the season.

I will give UF a couple interceptions if they give us 10 more pass interference's and take away Rainey's screen TD and blocked punt.

No offense, but this is just fantasy now. I have not and am not clinging to the fact we could have had more INTs. I did say that both our teams could not hold on to the ball. Rogers had a few crucial drops in the second half that could have changed the game around. Florida's WRs can't catch to save their lives. I think this was a sloppy game from both our teams.

Muschamp is a douche, period. Urban Meyer is a crying, arrogant person. Great coaches, but that doesn't mean that they can't be arrogant douches.

As a rival, I like hearing this. It means they are doing something right. I personally think Dooley is going to win his fair share of games against us very shortly and I've been saying that since he was hired. He's doing a hell of a job building your program up. I'm not going to call Dooley any names because I am a guest on your board but he is a coach that our fan base will be fearing in the near future.

The thing that still is laughable to me is that Florida fans come on here trying to paint some picture that UF has it worse, or even on the same level as Tennessee when it comes to youth and the depth chart. That right there shows that most UF fans are wearing the rosy glasses. Need to take those off guys and be real, if only for a second. I know it's hard.

Again, not coming from me. We are a young team outside of Brantley, Demps and Rainey. You can't count Deonte Thompson because he's all butterfingers. Your team is young too. I agree that we have talent, but that talent didn't show last season. There were a lot fo question marks heading into this game from both our squads and this game did nothing to answer them for my team. Your team has a lot of them answered. They fought back, never gave up and almost won.

I look forward to the UF fans' "witty" reply.

Don't know about witty, but this is how I see the game being as objective as possible. I may be a Gator fan, but I am also an SEC and NCAA fan.

Assuming nobody leaves, UF returns 17 starters next year..........10 on defense, our 4 of the 5 on the OL, fullback and one starting WR and TE

So what does that say that UT lost to a 6-6 Gator team, which would make them the worst Gator team in 30 years?

You guys have an average offense at best without Rainey. He'll wear out as he's all you guys have. 20+ touches a game? Good luck against Alabama, LSU and FSU.

You guys have a good starting front-7 but who do you have after that? Teams that can run the ball effectively (i.e. not UT) are going to wear them out and make you rely on your front-7 depth. Which, you guys are in the same position as us in that regard. Again, good luck against Alabama, LSU, USCe and FSU.

You have a terrible secondary. You had to rely on dropped passes and us missing our #1 WR and a whole mess of PI/holding to contain us. That one play where your DB held Rogers? If he catches that screen he's gone as he had a wide open field. Your DBs did that by design to negate the big play with a 15 yard penalty. Good luck against LSU, Alabama, UGA, USCe, FSU, Auburn and any other team that can somewhat effectively throw the ball.

Once a team reaches 5 PIs the coaches should be reprimanded. That's the cheapest damned strategy I've seen and it was absolutely told to them by their coaches. Texas tried the same cheap @ss stuff against Oklahoma. But, telling a bulk of Florida fans to "play fair" and not use cheap crap like this:

Is probably a lesson in ramming one's head into a brick wall.

I know that bro. The talent argument is out the window as far as recruiting goes.................we should have better.

According to Florida’s depth chart, the Gators have 29 freshmen and sophomores among the 44 position players in their two deep.

That’s one more than Tennessee, which according to its most recent depth chart, has 28 freshmen and sophomores listed among its 44 starters and backups.

so if there is a florida fan on here i have a ? how come you all havent beat us more? I mean the series is really kinda close and we always have to go into other states to get kids but you guys just have to go a mile down the street to get the best kids and yet what i saw on saturday did not make me worry that florida is that much further than us...

Are you counting redshirt sophomores?

Their offense would be average if they had any offense besides Rainey. Tennessee couldn't tackle him though, maybe he has a S on his chest and will last all year. That last part was sarcasm by the way.

We weren't good until the 80's. After our probation, it was the 90's that we really flourished.

22-9 the last 31 times we have played?

15-6 since 1990?

It says 75% of our roster is made up of FR and SO.

"which would make them the worst Gator team in 30 years?"... I am very optimistic about this possibility, almost giddy. :birgits_giggle:

1. UT lost Hunter, but nobody mentioned Florida was without 3 starters due to injury, inlcuding our best cover corner and our best red zone TE. It sucks, but you have to make adjustments. Sure Hunter was a crucial loss, but I maintain we weren't coming in with all our bullets either.

Agree with most things that you said, but I also want to remind everyone that Hunter is not the only player missing who was supposed to have an impact this year. Losing Janzen Jackson and Herman Lathers definitely set our defense back from where it could have been.

The problem with that argument is this. You are playing guys because they deserve to play because they are the beating out upper classmen. We are playing our young guys because we have no choice. On our 99 man roster which includes walk ons, we only have 25 Jr and Sr.

Good grief, you guys do realize in many positions we are doing the same thing, right?

You think the young guys in our secondary are studs because they beat out upperclassmen???

You saw our secondary on saturday.

I agree with you 100% about the Hunter loss. Losing a player on the first series is much different than knowing that player won't be available.

We didn't handle that very well. After we settled down the game played out more even. But UF was up 16 by then.

UF may have still won the game, but I wanted UT to give them their best shot, and it never happened.

Big gap between UTs DL and UFs DL. Thats the game.

The parts UT fans will agree with are listed first:

1. I feel bad for Hunter. the kid seems like a good all-around student-athlete and it sucks he got hurt. When he got hurt I told my wife "Oh no, please don't be an ACL."

2. Impressed with Da'Rick Rogers post-game. very well-spoken young man and a heck of a talent

3. Bray is going to be fine. The kid can play the QB position and I think he will be ok down the road. he is young and needs to work on things, but he will be fine.

4. You have the right coaching staff for this time in your program. Dooley and his bunch have shown they can recruit with the best of them and get the right kids for the program.

Parts you won't agree with and/or might make you mad:

2. Surprised we had the most penalities on our team in 15 years, dropped 5 picks, and still won by double-digits. if we had anyone worth a darn on defense who could catch, the game would have been a blowout.

3. Muschamp getting fired up is what we need as a program. I see alot of people on here saying what a douche, he is a jerk, etc.........all while Meyer was quiet and had a different demeanor, which meant he is an arrogant prick, pompous, etc. I just want to win. I don't much care how my coach acts on the field in the heat of a game. You start focusing on that as something to go after and you have already lost and are nit-picking on nonsense.

4. We can't keep relying on Rainey so much, but it shows our lack of talent in several glaring areas, mainly WR. I think this game showed what i have been saying..........we have a weak secondary, and we don't have alot of depth in alot of areas or playmakers, and we haven't recruited nearly as well as people like to think.

Here's to Hunter's speedy recovery.

Injury to Hunter sucks. As soon as it happened I was like "oh damn, UT is done," but I hoped it was just a tweak and that he would be OK, but we all knew it was ACL as soon as it happened.

Other notes:

The UF secondary isn't that bad. They're fast and aggressive. Honestly, they only gave up 6 Yards per attempt to a very strong passing team. Bray only completed 55% of his passes and UF had 2 INTs. 3 of those 7 penalties on PI were ticky tacky, just like the one called on UT. The fact that they hold when they're beaten is good on the deep stuff, as giving up big plays was a huge issue last year, but holding on 5 yard slant patterns is stupid and was just inexperience. Hopefully UF gets better on that. Jeremy Brown returning will really strengthen this defense a lot. UF misses his experience and skill right now.

UF has to rely on Demps and Rainey. They are UF's best players and that's what college football is all about. Ride your best players as far as they can take you. The key for Florida is that Brantley and the role players have to step up and help out, and against Tennessee, that didn't happen and it allowed UT to hang around.

The procedural penalties in the RZ have to be cleaned up and Muschamp needs to chill a bit. I like the passion and energy, but he lost his mind at halftime and that's a bit foolish.

Last thing I'll say is UF's DL is going to be amazing.

Good grief, you guys do realize in many positions we are doing the same thing, right?

You think the young guys in our secondary are studs because they beat out upperclassmen???

You saw our secondary on saturday.

B.S. Admit it and move on. Your program hasn't been through half of what ours has been through the last 5 years.

We aren't just talking about 3 or 4 players. We are talking about more than half of our Jr and Sr class no longer with the program, and many of the ones that are left are injured.
