Gator Fans Sucker Punch UT Fan!

that's awful...

however I can relate in a similar way and say that after a visit to Athens for last year's UGA game I will never return... my wife's grandparents were good enough to give us tickets being season ticket holders for over 50 yrs with UT.... and we were blasted by 4 letter words around my in laws of age 86 and 82... and we politely asked them for 2 quarters until it got to the boiling point...

we went to get the police and told them about the situation... and their response was we cannot do anything unless there is children around... then when we had her grandfather at age 86 come ask them again they finally came to these 8 UGA fan's around their late 20's and told them all to shut up or go home... they finally left at the end of the third quarter but I am pretty sure it's just because they ran out of booze! and as they left dropped some f bombs at us again...

I hate to say it but I really don't enjoy going to road games... too many times has my experienced been absolutely horrific when I just walk to the game in nothing but our school colors!

I truly hope all of you guys treat our opponents fans with class. their is nothing to be gained by treating someone poorly just because they wore their teams colors!

GO VOLS! I hope to see you all at the games and treating opponents fans with class even if they don't!

Let's talk reputation......

From what I understand & have witnessed.........
The SEC fans from Gainesviile & LSU are the ones that nobody wants to be around.

Regardless if their teams are decent or not................. the fan bases there are VERY inhospitalble!

Could it be that these are transplanted people that don't understand Southern Hospitality!!!

..........surely this has been brought up before.

Even Ole Miss fans as Stuck up as they are can be very Hospitalble to visitors

Not surprised at all. I seen where some guys was peeing in jugs and tossing it on UT fans, and Georgia Fans. They had even put it in a small like water gun type of thing and was squirting it all over everyone at the UT game last year.

Is anyone surprised?

I posted on USAtoday about how horrible FL fans are and the replies I got back were things liked "you're wrong, that never happens"

I've seen FL fans take frozen oranges and throw them at TN fans, throw bottles, cups of beer, etc. They are the worst fans I've ever encountered and I'll never go to Gainesville for a game.

I've attended rivarly games at UT - the Bama game is a perfect example -there might be some smack talk going on, but it's light, and at the end of the day there is a mutual respect for the tradition of the contest, of the longstanding rivalry. I see none of that in Gainesville, I only see the worst rednecks on the planet.

Hate to say it but it happens all over. I've been to all of the SEC east staduims and Neyland was one of the worst experiences. We heard lots of the 4-letter words directed at us during the game. After the game we were walking behind an elderly couple dressed in red & black. A group of drunk UT, probably frat boys, walked up to them and got in their faces and started barking. I asked the guys to leave them alone and it started into a shoving match between me and one of the drunker ones. Fortunately some other UT/UGA fans stepped in and they left, after a few "F-bombs". On the other hand, we went to LSU and the fans couldn't have been better. And I've heard stories............ It happens at every school. We're no exception. If I ever see any of our fans being overly-obnoxious, I try and step in when I can. BTW, I was at Neyland for another game and there were no incidents, other than some ragging about "Ray Goof". It happens.

UF fans throw cups of beer at UT fans?? What a waste! How do they get the beer in the games??

Sorry to hear that Dawg4life...this was my last experience at the Worlds Largest Cocktail Party....

:no:As a long time Gator fan, this is a shame. I apologize on behalf of Gator Nation. There are fans of every team this way. These games are still held on campuses of colleges, where you have a large portion being young, immature and even drunk students. Happens everywhere. I was at the UGA-Florida game, back in 2005, UGA won the game and my 70 year old father, that hadn't been to a UGA-UF game since the 1940's, and I were verbally insulted and profanity and stuffed Gator toys with rope around the neck, were thrown at us, as we walked through a UGA tailgating section. My father had to sit on a curve shortly afterwards, cause he had a pain in his chest, and two days later had a heart attack. Sometimes, SEC fans take football as being their lives and way too serious...and its a shame. Passion is passion. Respect is respect. Iam sure that every fan base can say the same about any away game (especially a night game, when the students and everyone else, tailgates and drinks all day before the game) experienced on the road. The actions of a few ignorant fans, probably young and drunk, should NEVER be a true reflection upon a University and a football team, and also of game that is played by a bunch of 17, 18, 19, 20 year old young men. Iam once again sorry to hear of this article, and I hope the young man is in good condition and spirits.

Good luck this year, and I hope that UGA fans are treated with respect and dignity by Gator Nation come this year in Jacksonville.

laaaaaaaaaaaame

Kiffin? (sorry had to) Good game Vols! Much respect and credit to the young men that gave it their all!

I thought this was so funny.....enjoy!

I was at the game with my parents. And, I am a die-heart gator. Parents met on campus and have been season ticket holders for over 35 years. But, from the bottom of my heart I apologize to all Volunteer fans for this incident. I have been to Neyland Stadium many times and while there is minor heckling...I have always been treated well. Great game Vols.

It's not a fan or team issue, it's just society. You stick 90 to 100,000 people in a stadium and there are good odds that 10% or more are frickin' retards. Only issue I ever had was sadly at Neyland and it was one of our own. Walking down the ramp from the nosebleeds and a drunk idiot walks up and puts his arm around the old lady and pulls her close mumbling how good the game was...I rolled him a more than fair distance down the ramp and explained to the cop who was about to crack my skull what happened. Luckily some folks backed my story. Don't know where they took him but he needed a band aid or two. Most FANS are great, but a drunk is an a**h*** wherever he goes. And I say drunk with all due respect.:D

I hope to god if that ever happens in Knoxville to a visiting fan, the offending party gets a good beating from other UT fans.

I was part of breaking up a fight between 4 gator fans and one tennessee fan in knoxville in 2000 I believe. We were on one of the back streets trying to fight the traffic and 4 gators fans ran down a tennessee fan and started whoopin him..My brother and I stopped the darn thing but its a freakin game and people take WAY to seriously!!

Why people will fight over a game played by pampered 18-21 year olds is beyond comprehension.

There are people with integrity and values, their responce is not based upon a game. Then you have 'losers' who don't care about anyone including themselves. A loser can be someone who has given up hope due to circumstances or history. For the sake of society we are each charged with the care of our fellowman, even though we are offended by their way of life. We have a much larger population than Tn and lots of 'hopeless' types, though a very small percentage. Just one at the wrong moment is too many!

This is a completely irrational way to make an "excuse" for what happenned. You can call them "loser" but don't try to justify what they did. These were drunks at a football game.
Take your pity party back to FL.

I've been to 10 SEC road games and UF fans are THE worst ....by far . You havent been around to much if you claim otherwise

According to this universally accepted authority on the subject, the following so-called vol fans should be chastised as blatant LIARS for suggesting that ANY non-Gator fan could possibly have an enjoyable visit to Gainesville and/or the Swamp. Simply, not possible.

It was pretty good for the most part. It was not as bad as all the talk around it. The walk to the game was amusing and some tennessee guy got pushed and his teeth got knocked out but other than that it was good. During the game people were very rude. We were in the Tennessee section and a ton of gator fans kept yelling profanity at us. Probably the worst away game i've been to and i've been to many. It wasnt as bad as people beating people or anything like that.

i had a great experience, the people we sat by were very classy and congratulated us on playing a competitive game. There was some friendly trash talk but all in good fun :)

one Gator got into it with us after the game, but the best thing about it was we made him feel bad for winning, which was a great satisfying feeling :)

This is my ninth time to a Gator game. It hasn't changed for me. The reason I keep going back is because of how I'm treated. Everyone is very cordial and having alot of fun. I get the frequent heckle, but they all recieve it as much as they dish it out.

I have one complaint: the seats are so freakin close to one another, everyone is right on top of each other. It is certainly loud there.

I can get there after all the tailgators have settled and still have a decent place to park, next to McDonalds and the bank everytime. Walk in and walk out with no problem. I got tickets from a Gator season ticket holder this time. Now he might get mauled when he gets back to the next game for selling his tickets to a Volunteer fan.

For another thread sometime....
I will NEVER return to a road trip to a 'bama game again....obnoxious experience

I HATE the gayterd fans, they can't win with class. When they get beat, oh boy it was the refs, they was sick, or they were cheated. THEY SUCK!!!!
