Gator Bowl rumor thread (merged)

I hate waiting. It's not even the fact that we probably won't end up in a NYD game. It's the fact that I hate not know what the hell is happening.

Gator Bowl isn't expected to announce anything official until at least 5, and #Vols have a press conference scheduled for 5:30.

Nothing official until 5:00 and our press conference is at 5:30. Hmmmm:question:

I go over to GVX. I find comments like these. I leave disappointed.

This just sounds kind of sad, TBH.

Woo hoo! Party on the....29th? I think I'll wait till the real deal comes.
Likely part of the 10-12 thousand that didn't show up for UTM UAB Ole Miss and Ky...

They want it close enough to be able to say they went, but never do...

Probably been posted before, but...

If that piss ant program from Starkville gets the Gator Bowl invite...

Who's gonna watch on TV if all 20,000 of their fans are butts-in-seating in the stadium?

Whole lotta people gonna be rooting for Michigan-- including some in the SEC!

Well considering we are 6-6 and USCe is 9-4, we dont really deserve to be in a NYD Bowl. If we are then I will be jumping for joy, but this wasn't expected for us to even be in consideration for a NYD Bowl. With that being said, im still hoping we end up in the Gator Bowl.

If UF is in the Outback Bowl, then it's either Tennessee, Miss. State, or South Carolina for the Gator.

State fans have set bowl attendance records in recent years. They snapped up MSU's entire allotment of bowl tickets regardless of where they go. Ticket sales won't be a problem regardless of which team goes.

SC would be a better choice, but don't act like MSU is an awful pick.

Reasonable post.

We are 6-6, with our notable win being KY.

MSU is 2 wins better, and played in the tougher division this year.

i misunderstood. i thought you were sayng the MCB was set up for a team that plays like TN - their style of football

i gotcha tho

I feel bad for MSU, they have a solid team and have had a good year. Much better than us, but the national "brand" of Tennessee will sell more for Gator bowl.

It's true that MS has the better record, and they may travel well, but they don't have the TV viewership. Outside of Mississippi, MS is a "who cares?" kind of team, and their ranking does little to change that. They're just not a big-time program like Michigan and Tennessee. It depends on if the criteria is ranking or recognition/eyeballs. And if the SEC is twisting arms...

I would love for the gator bowl to tell the conference to shove it and take UT-Michigan. They'll probably cave, though.

I can agree with some of that. But we are talking about a 6-6 UT that no one outside of TN is really keeping an eye on this year. My point was geared more toward MSU having a better year UT which is true.

These things always seem to work against us. Last year the conference didn't do anything to stand up for us as we got shafted because the Outback Bowl wanted to break rank. This year, the Outback does the same again, and the conference tries to strongarm another bowl from bumping us up in the pecking order. Awesome.
