Gary Patterson

Hart needs to be on the phone right now asking Patterson what it will take to get him to Knoxville.

Patterson and Strong would be good hires but no one seems to mention David Shaw. I think Shaw could really do well here. He recruited the number 5 ranked class in the country to Stanford last year, this year they only have 7 recruits but 4 of them are 4 star or higher. By looking at there commits from last year it looks like he recruited nationally. Stanford had a great year last and they're having a good year this year as well.

Sumlin just got through beating Bama, no way in he!! he would want to come here now.

That is the big difference between the powers that be at UT and other schools. At A&M, Sumlin will have a raise by sunrise. At UT, we will still have Dooley.

Sumlin is going to ride the Manziel train for another 3 years.

1st people said Sumlin's offense would not work in the SEC and it was all because of Keenan. Now it's Manziel is the reason he is winning. Well, if you keep getting QB's to run the offense...Who cares how you do it?

Since Gruden is unlikely to come, Chris Peterson is my new #1 choice...I say throw the bank at him...He'll turn this train wreck into a wrecking machine in no time.

Chris Petersen is a good coach no doubt and if we can't get Patterson, then I would welcome him.

Since Patterson has denied that he is interested in going to Arkansas, Hart needs to make a full court press on him.

He won't leave tcu..

He has a sweet deal at TCU. He could lose the next 40 games and still be paid 15-16 million dollars.

IF a school wants Patterson, they have to set up an offer like TCU has. 6 years and all the contract is guaranteed. 6 years at 4-4.25 and Patterson would listen. Huge raises for his long time coordinators and I think they could not pass the deal up. Remember, Randy Shannon is also on the staff at TCU(LB coach). Hart would have to let Patterson bring his whole staff. No holdovers IMO with a guy like Patterson. It's all or nothing.

Did I miss something? Was there a legit denial? Because all I ever saw was the below--which is more of an admission than a denial:

@DanWolken: Not exactly a full-throated denial RT @davidubben: Gary Patterson on Arkansas rumors: "I don't think there's anything to that."

Translation:

"Tennessee offered me 4.25 million a year, I doubt Arkansas is going to go to 5 million".

:hi:

Yeah I know Shannon is on the staff and that is just another reason why Hart needs to make a major play for Patterson. Couple those two with Bumpas who is no slouch either and you've got the makings for a killer defense here.

Some people on here knock him for his recruiting, but lets face it, how many 4 and 5 star players were you going to get at TCU when they were in the MWC?

As for bringing his whole staff here, that would be up to him, but he may also take a look at least a couple of the guys we have on offense. TCU doesn't have the greatest offense and coaches like Graham and Pittman may be upgrades for him.

With all due respect, Manziel was a three star recruit, a Parade All American, and the National High School Coach Association Football Player of the Year. It was a great day for all Aggies when he switched his commitment from Oregon to A&M two years ago given his talent.

Im just not sure he can recruit at a high enough level to win consistently in the SEC. He has had some good teams and defenses but coaching up 3* players isnt going to get you wins week in and out in a conference full of elite players and coach's. Not saying he cant recruit but just not sure he can land the 4 and 5 star guys year in and out. Would take Strong over Patterson. Strong knows how to and has recruited in the SEC and put together good defenses against SEC teams. Its jmo but I have a little more trust in Strong than Patterson, especially in recruiting. Patterson can get leftovers in TX and still assemble a good team and coach them up. He wont have that luxory in TN

Petrino won 10 an 11 games at Arkansas and 12 at Louisville with a bunch of 3 stars...

If Patterson leaves TCU at all (which I'm not sure he will), it will be for Arkansas. Makes much more sense & they are not going to skimp on what they can pay.
