Gary Parrish on Butch's "Champions of life"

He said Butch is looking around to land at another place because his resume took a hit by not winning the East

I saw a tweet earlier where they had the following coaching changes

Herman to Texas
Fisher to LSU
Kiffin to FSU
Butch to Houston( why? No idea why he would take a step down by himself)
PJ Fleck to UT

I will try and find the tweet and post it

We are so cheap if we go with Fleck.

It's the Tennessee way.

Just IMO of course, but I'd like the hiring of Fleck.

Fleck is a hire you make after Dooley. Literally, our roster and depth is back and we want to seriously hire another mid major coach? No thanks.

Give me Les Miles with Sark and Locksley running his offense

He wouldn't be my first choice, but we aren't hiring anyone that would actually require a salary in the Saban/Harbaugh range (think Gruden). So for the money, I think Fleck would be a decent hire.

Blatantly stupid and worse than anything Dooley every said.

You still hate him and will direct players away from him and UT. This statements proves it and don't talk about past NPA players. Nothing recently since Butch made you mad. DOOLEY would've been the first UT coach to have a three win season if he stayed and you give him props. Go cut some hair.

Um what? The "participation trophy crowd" aren't the ones making fun of this.

I edited to add "anti" bit I don't think I made it quite clear enough.

I'm talking about the people that constantly rail about participation trophies, millennials, etc.

That's my bad.

De1 is a clown that has brainwashed some on here into thinking he is something he isnt. Kind of like the guy who says he is Hurd's "uncle." Sad.

VN has become such a sad place. It used to be the negativity was primarily in the FF but now it's everywhere. I'd love to see the age and job history of many of the VN posters. I suspect many are in their 20s, working their way through life unhappily. Their goal seems to be to question and belittle everything and everyone that sees things in a different light.

For example, not only are many wishing Butcg gone, they are already deciding who should be the next coach, as if they have a clue.

I know this is a message board where we can express our pinions, but the constant whining and complaining is getting to be the norm.

Are things perfect? No. Am I convinced we have the coach to take us to the next level? No. Let's see where we go from here. But I'm not going to belittle his efforts in turning a terrible program into a competitive one, and I'm not going to belittle him for recognizing his job, in addition to coaching, is to turn boys into young men. Most of whom won't go to the NFL.

Flame on.

Great post, but it will fall on deaf ears. Especially if UT doesn't beat Vandy. I just saw where Charlie Strong said his staff achieved their primary goal, developing young men. We will see if this gets the same reaction as the COL comment. Taken out of context, by the way. CBJ is his own worst enemy in his pressers. He shouldn't be so cordial and accommodating.

That has to be one of the most asinine things Coach Cliche has ever said. He is a complete goof ball. I am sure that recruits really want to win the "Championship of Life" rather than the SEC East, the SEC Championship or a Natl Championship.

Where does he come up with this garbage?

Actually, saying that is not stupid.....IF you are saying it in the off-season. But once the season starts and until it ends, it's an excuse. Not like anybody forgot they visit sick kids, and build H4H houses.

I still support Butch, but I gotta say that quote in November does nothing to inspire me. Cut the crap, Butch.

College football is a business now. While what Strong and Butch is trying to do, it doesn't matter to the ones making the decisions (or the masses).

I guess I missed this haha.

Coach says boring coach speak thing at press conference. Internet outrage ensues.

How is this a story?
