Gary Danielson says Guarantano has a bright future

If you like Gary Danielson, I encourage you to go back & watch 2016 Florida & Georgia games... when watching the replays of those games I remember almost everything he said was irritating... & mostly negative toward UT & Volunteer fans...

Tennessee has been a disappointment since Danielson started calling SEC games, in the mid-2000s I think. No wonder he’s not glowing about us. That will change if we win ballgames.

Yes, if you all remember we absolutely deserved to be talked down the first halves of those games as we were terrible trailing by 3 scores in both cases. The second halves of those games, however, some of the best memories I have as a Vol fan over the past decade or so.

He was very complimentary of Dobbs, Debord, and the defense in the second half of that Florida game.

My favorite was Ron Franklin from espn. Ron and Mike were a great team. Of course, John Ward was in a class of his own for radio.

Most outside observers have said this. We are in good hands the next couple years at qb. Now we need to get some WRs to catch the ball.

It’s kind of crazy that everybody is reporting that jg is leading in the qb battle and then just about everyone on this message board just blows the news off like they don’t know what they’re talking about. Are y’all really that butthurt that kc isn’t gonna be the starter?

Verne is one of the nicest people you'd ever meet. He's had an outstanding career. I don't get the hate for the guy.
He was bad at his job.

No excuse for him to be in the game that long, and every week it be obvious to the audience neither he or Gary even understand the rules.

Fumble. Safety. Whatever. Then incompetance ensues. The sportscaster should provide insight to the game that the audience doesn't have.

Verne and Gary were the equivalent of your drunk uncles narrating the Thanksgiving day games.

How could he not be...we outscored them 35-7 in the second half.

Danielson is seemingly negative on Tennessee because he's selling SEC football to a national audience, and let's be honest...there hasn't been anything for a neutral fan to get excited about at Tennessee in a long time. Like Derelick said he pushes the mainstream, hot team because it's a national audience.

If only they would stick with that. Go back and watch some old games from the 70s and early 80s on YouTube. The announcer would give the score, down and distance, and describe the play as it unfolds. The color commentator would give insight into the matchups. And that was pretty much it. I wish we could get back to that kind of announcing. Now everyone wants to give their opinions on everything. I don't need to know if it was a good call or a bad one. I already know that.

Gary Danielson does not understand humanity well enough to "get" the way momentum can affect a ball game. [note for those who didn't know: Danielson has said many times on air that he does not believe in momentum in sports]

He may be bright in many other ways when it comes to the game of football, but he doesn't get people. So he can't be counted among the best analysts of this game we love.

People have been saying good things about him but many have ignored them. Its just people looking for confirmation bias instead of listening to what has been said.

I think if the line is healthy JG will have a big year.

I think he will be around 2900 yards 22tds 64%.

Nobody knows who it will be until we see someone take the opening snap against West Virginia

Don't know who it will be BUT I bet the one that starts the WVU game will NOT hold the job all season. The second stringer will replace him at some point in the season.
Schaffer - Ainge Simms - Bray Dormady - JG Forget whom the starter was in 2000 - Clausen

Joey Matthews was the starting QB in the 2000 season opener against Southern Mississippi

Only if there is an injury. Lets hope we are more healthy this year.

11 year grudge over that huh?

Driving along on the highway and the car in front of you applies the brakes. You do also. Liberty Mutual has accident forgiveness. Ya See "chatt-townVOL" Liberty Mutual doesn't hold grudges. How mature......

Due to last years performance, we don't exactly become joyful with the prospect that JG will be the starter. We are hoping that the second string q.b. will take the job. Ya know, the 2nd string guy is always the most popular guy.
Remember when we were all calling for Peterman to be the starter? Remember how we were curious as to how McBride would play if he was the starter, rather than JG? Remember how we were curious about Manning when we heard he was doing well in practice. Colquitt, Helton, Stewart.
