Gary Carter vs American University

I remember it well...my dad and I were listening on the radio at neighbor's house. I thought of that one, Lofton's shot vs Winthrop, and prob the all timer, Higgins' heave vs that Jarrett Jack/Cris Bosh GaTech team in early 2000's as far as similar game winning shots
No one else remembering Willie Burton's bomb to beat LSU at home in '84?

Speaking of game-winning shots, anyone old enough to remember this one?

I was there with my late dad. I remember that he wanted to go but I talked him into staying. I had just turned 14. What a memory!

John Ward loved emphatically saying, "Carter!". Something about his pronunciation of it was special. Kind of a focus on the middle and ending R

I was in Atlanta when Jon Higgins hit a shot from beyond half court to beat Georgia Tech at the buzzer. I can’t find video of it.

Gary Carter was a phenomenal athlete, when they played in the NCAA Tourney in Murfreesboro against ND he was a 6’2 freshman but tough as hell. I believe he had 13 rebounds in that game going up against Laimbeer, Woolridge and Tripuka.

Was really good in football too as I remember.
One of my friends from Scouts played basketball at Morristown East, and he remembered playing against Carter in a game.

”We knew he was going somewhere.”
