I understand recruiting being the priority, but it would seem to be difficult to sell a recruit when they don't know who their position coach will be. The coaching staff ought to be priorty 1 and recruiting 1a IMO.

Per Football Scoop:
Tennessee: Our sources tell us LA Tech grad assistant Ben Larson is on the way to Knoxville. Larson will be helping Dooley over the next few weeks and will likely fill one of the intern positions. We are hearing that LA Tech defensive coordinator Tommy Spangler will not be joining the staff at Tennessee.

Nope I am from here and not an UGA fan. I just can not believe Garner would want something like that to come out on a radio show, that would be like jim mora jr saying he wanted the washington huskies job while coaching the atlanta falcons wait he did say that and he got fired and did not get the huskies job.

Garner to UT would be huge. Would we wait with respect to UGA, or go after him now? I would think that if we were going to go after him we should do it now. JMO

Where would we put Joseph and Russell though? Even if we get rid of Garza, we can't have a guy be just a ST coordinator unless someone besides Chaney does double duty. And if Russell coaches a position as well, it would probably be DL wouldn't it...

Garner is a must hire. If we get him to come on to tennessee's staff then we are back on track for our championship run. he would be able to help dooley and lance and chaney secure this recruiting class and maybe pick up a couple more. this would be HUGE

I know Garner is an awesome recruiter, but I've seen people on here questioning his coaching abilities. Can anyone share any light on how he is as a coach?

Could you imagine Garner and Thompson together recruting GA!! They are the 2 best coaches at recruiting the state. We would pull anything we want from that state.

I've heard that Garner can recruit in other places other than Georgia. What are some other places that he can recruit. Would love to have him.

He's from Leeds, AL and is an Auburn alumnus (like Charles Barkley). He also spent his first 6 years in coaching at Auburn. So, I guess he could recruit Alabama, but that doesn't help us a lot.

Hyams stated on his show that he does not like Garner. Some bad blood from Garner's stint while at UT. This seems like this would make his hiring a no brainer.

Jimmy has also tried to insinuate for years that Garner is a dirty recruiter. Does anyone, anywhere care what Jimmy Hyams thinks of another human being?

While having Garner and Thompson would give us a strong recruiting presence in GA, we aren't ever going to be able to just get anybody we want from there, the desire to play for the home state school by most players in state is too strong to be able to dominate a rival state completely.

If this is true, that would be a great hire, IMO.
