GameStop hurts gaming industry?

If you're anything like me, renting should considered. Even if you're doing it one by one at Blockbuster. Lots of games I play for a couple weeks and never look back. Especially nowdays when games are starting to flow again. Single player games for sure. Rent it once when you have time and beat it. Perhaps you have to rent it twice. Being out $15-20 bucks is obviously better than $60, or even $60-$20 trade in.

Frugal tip for this thread: Might be different now, but as of 3 months ago, most corporate Blockbuster stores were still on the 'no late fees' program. Rent at these stores. After 2 weeks they charge your card. Return before the 30th day, they refund your card and charge you $1.35. So, you get month long rentals for ~$10.

That explains why BB never has any freaking game to rent at their locations!!

Unless you are really itching to play Viva Pinata :ermm:

Still, I've started selling older games on ebay/craigslist for a few dollars more.

but I've realized now I'm not going to play them again and should get something.

2 good points. I had more PS2 games than i could shake a stick at, and the majority were variations on the same...ie 04, 05, 06, what have you. I gave them all to my sister for nothing, but i'd have been glad to get a wooden nickle for them.

But i've also sold a few games on ebay and made out fairly well. I fell victim to the NFL Head Coach advertising, and after a week of trying to force myself to like it, i threw it out on ebay and got $4 less than sticker price for it. Not a bad deal, as far as cutting my losses...alot better than trading it in for credit.

I was just trying to make the point that GameStop has been gradually lowering how much they give you for traded in games.

considering i've been working at gamestop the for the past 2 years, i can't wait to see you prove this statement.

I'm surprised so many people are willingly to trade in the games for such a low price. That's where all of Gamestop's margins are coming from. They pay gamers a fraction of what the used game is worth, and then turn around and sell it for $10 less than retail!!

A lot of the blame can be put right back on the gamers for selling back their used games so cheaply.

The thing is you get decent money if you trade for another game if you have an edge card, so its actually pretty nice, its how I got rock Band

I think I'm going to give gamefly a whirl and see if I like it. Has anyone who has used gamefly had problems with scratched disks or anything?

I think you need to be more selective in what you buy. Bioshock is great and all, but unless you replay through games multiple times, no real reason to buy it.
