Gameplan vs Kentucky?

Score more points than they do.

If that ends up not working, chuck the ball as hard as they can at Cal's face.

Turner and Bowden stay glued to Herro.

Keep PJ out of the paint.

Kyle has to defend without picking up stupid fouls.

We need 15 collective minutes of minimal mistake ball from Fulkerson/Walker in the post.

Push the pace and take care of the ball.

Offensively, don’t settle for 3s and work inside out. Bone/Turner/Bowden/Schofield have to drive the paint.

Barnes: Listen guys you follow Herro around like a lost puppy looking for his owner. If he goes to hug his momma you get a hug too. If he goes to piss you turn the water on. If he wants Gatorade you be in the seat nxt to him. Do not let him breath. Do not let him get a clear shot. Contest everything. If you don’t we will borrow their court and run suicides until I get tired of watching y’all run..

Keep Ky off balance, block out the crowd noise that will be very distracting and play both first & second half like Tennessee has played all season. Go Vols stomp a mud hole in that behind.

Fulky will break out his PHI slamma jamma game. Wednesday night was just a preview. Barnes has been holding him back for the cat game :)

I am guessing Tennessee packs the paint and hopes Kentucky does not get hot. Who does Tennessee have standing above 6'7 that matches up with Kentucky's front court? Kyle Alexander must stay out of foul trouble.

Kentucky isn’t nearly as big in the front court as they usually are...Travis and Montgomery are their 2 threats down low and both go 6’8”.

I have a strange feeling this is going to be a double digit win for either us or KY.. not sure where I fall yet

How is pons? If he doesn’t play, that’s big imo

He played last night, no mask. Bit surprised actually to see him in the game

He did have a mask on. Also, he seemed somewhat timid, which was expected.

for D: Make KY work for shots.............they will take bad ones.

for O: as normal, be fast when needed, and patient when needed, take good shots.

If Tennessee can keep KY in the low 40% range (42 or even lower), and can be just close to even on the boards Tennessee wins. (if KY shoots no better than 43% and if Tennessee is no worse than -5 on the boards, Tennessee remains #1 come Feb 18th.)

Finding a way to get this road win will make me feel really good about this team’s chance in March.

Kentucky is noticeably better when they play at a slow controlled pace. Tough to speed teams up. So we need to be aggressive on offense and focus on getting defense boards and immediately looking up court. We don’t force a lot of turnovers, but we could use them and that’s why Id like to see Fulky a little early on to be a pest and see what he can do

Guard it against Herro and Washington. I’m not sure the others are as much a threat.

I’d have Tae eat Hagans lunch and Bowden on herro. ? Is can we root Pj off the block. If it takes 2 then someone is open. Scho rooted Silva out several times last night.

Rebound.

Stay with Herro.
Try to contain Washington

Make their other players beat you.

Defensive rebounding.
Pound the ball inside and get Washington and Travis in foul trouble.
I think Williams and Schofield need at least 10 shot attempts each.
Guard the 3 point line and shoot the 3ball judiciously.
Limit turnovers on offense.

Everyone on our team is a factor...we don't just have one or two that can hit, but everyone from starters to the bench can score double digits....I think good rotation and defending the 3 is going to be the biggest advantage for us.

•Defensive rebounds, can’t give UK multiple chances to score.

•Guard the 3 point line, especially Herro. He can be dangerous when his shots are falling.

•Williams & Schofield need to stay out of foul trouble.

•Turner I believe, will be the key here. He was a big contributor in last years win at Rupp with that clutch deep three in the 2nd half.

Overall, I want to see what I’ve been seeing from this team. Play hard defense and stick to your gameplan.

And please, do a better job at defending the 3 point line. That’s really the only weakness that I see with this team.
Win!

Stay cool when they throw a good punch, and you know they will. Counterpunch with one of those runs we've come to love.

Alexander is key for us. He has not been mentally dialed in for several games and only played 20 minutes Wednesday. He needs to step up on Washington ( both ends) so Grant is matched up with someone else! PJ cleaned GW’s clock last year!
