To answer the OP.

Depends on who had the best leadership reps in practice this week.Therein lies the answer to your question.

If they listen to Pruitt's stupid press conferences, then they'll realize they have no business being out there.
Somebody likes their bedtime stories to be about butterflies, bumblebees, and rainbows. Those scary stories give you nightmares.
We’ve had enough of used car salesmen. CJP may not turn out, but a new approach is welcome from where I’m watching.

Who do you think will step up and provide some passionate leadership against the Gators- the kind that fires up the rest of the team? We need the kind of passion Juane Jennings shows but he isn’t on the field much.
Outside of the obvious.. I’m hoping Paul Bain and DKJr on D. Making some big plays and hyping the crowd/team afterwards. Maybe even talking some smack to the other team.
Ty Chandler and Callaway on Offense. Dudes are homerun hitter and their personalities are legit and smooth. But I’d like to see some fire and fist pumps.

He may turn out to be a good coach, but there's no reason to blindly believe he's go things figured out. He doesn't. And in this last presser he was very disrespectful to his team in at attempt to absolve himself for their on-field performance. Here's what he said, but you should listen to it as well because how he said it was just plain wrong and, yes, stupid.

“I have said this a lot, I really think one of the first things how do you recruit? Do you recruit defensive players that play on offense? Those guys are used to having the ball in their hands. How many times on Saturday did a ball hit our hands? In the secondary I thought we should have had four interceptions. We didn’t. ... If they don’t do it [in high school], they’re probably not going to do it [in college].”

I for 1 LOVE the honesty.... I am so sick of hearing the same old bull crap we've heard for years. Pruitt is no nonsense and doesn't sugar coat things. If these kids can't handle it then they need to get better and play to the true potential they have and take the coaching to get better. I know it may be hard for some of the upperclassmen to grasp but these coaches are actually coaching and teaching them how to be successful.

Funny thing is, in that very same quote, Pruitt said that coaching essentially doesn't matter for the kinds of players that didn't make the interception:

"You can coach and try to teach them the best you can on how to do it, [but] it seems like the guys who do it on Friday nights will do it on Saturdays."

I don't really care how honest that is (or true for that matter)...what it shows is that Pruitt needs to learn how to coach the guys he's got, not the ones he's planning to get.

I have no idea what anything I said has to do with bedtime stories. Butch Jones was terrible from day one. Pruitt is more convincing for sure, but a "new approach" should not be mistaken for "above reproach."

You are something else. God forbid someone speaks the truth......

I don't know why I continue to expect people to exhibit a basic capacity for reading comprehension. Pruitt was flat out wrong to suggest that his own players can't be coached up since they "didn't do it on Fridays." This isn't really a stretch.

You are digging. I read it. You are just being a troll.

Edit: Also, how about next time you quote my full comment instead of one small statement.

What would you suggest he do at the press conference? Say stupid cliches and juggle to make everyone happy?

How do you get he is not coaching his current players? What do you believe they do at practice all week?

I think you misinterpreted what he said. He didn't say thoe DBs couldn't be coached up. He was saying players that don't have good hands in HS usually won't have good hands in college. But he also saying that guys that were used to having the ball in their hands in HS, because they played offense in HS, should have good hands in college, whether they are on offense or defense. Tae and Thompson both played on offense in HS (Thompson was a 2-way player), so he was basically saying they are used to having the ball in their hands and should make those interceptions. So when they don't it is lack of focus, not that they an't be coached up. And not being able to hold on to a ball doesn't even mean they can't be coached up to be really good DBs in coverage.

So, he was disrespectful because we had a DB get hit right in the face and still not intercept the ball? Then we had one hit both hands of a DB and no interception to show?

Brandon Johnson had 2 drops before he got back into the game....

Lol, so Pruitt for saying basically that our Defense shouldn't of dropped the ball and if you can't catch you probably won't be recruited was being disrespectful to the guys we have on the field.....

Hmm. Lol.

So true, you can paint the picture anyway you want DTF. Don't tell me that what he said, hurt someone's feelings, Damn, I hope so...You can't play against the SEC and not take advantages when a team gives them to you. If calling you out for a mistake, hurts your feeling, then you don't need to be playing in this league...As, Pat Summit one of the Greatest Coaches in The World of College Athletics once said..."Toughen Up Buttercup"! This is big-time football and it is time to make the plays that make it Big_Time. Go Vols!

Yeah, his "Toughen Up Buttercup" coaching has clearly done wonders for their confidence. Somehow, our players have gotten worse...is that from all the great coaching?
