Gameday is harsh....

These guys are in what occupation? News media. Vol fans are not responsible for what McQueary testified about Schiano. The Wahington Post reported it. If it’s unfair to Schiano then responsibility falls on the Post, not the fans. These bozo’s are just covering their own incompetent asses.

Yall are some serious crybabies. When we win they promote us. We bring in a lot of money. Its good for them to bash us for ratings right now. They treat all the schools like this. When Bama was down they weren't promoting Bama under Shula.

Theyve always **** on us, man

If Schiano is such this coaching mastermind, why hasn’t any P5 school hires him to run the show?

Am not understanding why ESPN is riding this guys jock!!
its the money narrative. gotta milk it for all its worth.

plus espn doesn't even want to mention the name Sandusky or the PSU allegations. could be liable to be sued by Schiano for slander. so of course they talk about it like it's Tennessee and the fans of Tennessee's fault. that's where da $$$ is.

I would be happy to see Kiffin back. Not ecstatic. I believe he would do well here. However, are you willing to send newly put in place Phillip Fulmer, AD there to get shot down by Kiffin and give him what he wants—a huge troll job for the Twitter masses? I am not sure if Lane wants to truly be back to Knoxville. Looks more like a game he likes to play on Vol Nation for attention. I could be wrong. Who knows what the right answer is in this coach search? I hope Fulmer for all of us.

I’ve always said this about going after Lane. It has to be a phone call between UT (now Phil) and him only.

“Lane, do you want the UT job? Your contract is going to have a big buyout if you leave us again, but is gonna have big cash incentives if you win. Yes or no?”

You are doing a lot of embellishing of the facts. The facts are one guy said he heard another guy say he heard that Shiano said he thought he may have seen something. When Shiano was announced a candidate for the job, I was opposed to this before the Penn State stuff was referenced. I didn't want him based on him as a coach and when the Penn State stuff came out, I was even more opposed to him being the coach. I don't think we should look at anybody associated with Penn State during that period because we don't know who knew what. My objection is to people referring to the man as a pedophile. He has never been accused of this. Let's rip him for maybe turning a blind eye or being a prickly coach, but the man doesn't deserve to be ripped for something that he has never been accused of doing. We look stupid when we do that.

You yourself are saying he was accused of seeing a child being raped and did nothing about it, which is by far the worst thing I've said about him.

The "don't drop the soap around Jerry" jokes were talked about a lot at the time and it was reported by news sources. This is from an old New York Times article:

It’s hard to believe that a monster like Sandusky was harbored by Happy Valley for so long. It was an open joke in Penn State football circles that you shouldn’t drop your soap in the shower when Jerry was around.

American Horror Story - The New York Times

Maureen Dowd is aware of this "open joke" but Greg Schiano wasn't? Am I embellishing or are you just being naive?

Do you think Paterno knew about Sandusky or was that another "embellishment"?

When we win they kiss our butts. Its been so long since we won, I guess people forget. We have one of the largest fan bases. Its good business to promote us when we are up. Its has just been a long time.

With all due respect I don't believe this to be the case,, these folks are committed idealogs,, they don't care what's "good business"if it conflicts with their ideology. They've been running their business into the ground laying off hundreds of staff and have not deviated from their course

Who cares man. Kirk can kiss my a$$

I worked today so I didn't get to hear.

But Herbstreit and the rest of those Yankees should learn to mind their own business.

Your age is showing. You are out of touch if you don't think recruits and student fans (you know the loudest part of the fan base) don't eat that stuff up and helps recruiting.

As is yours, one day you'll get what it means to have self respect.

I understand the value of social media with respects to these kids however Lane has done nothing but troll the Vol fanbase. He's a child and an average coach.

A lot of these guys at espn have the same agent as Schiano which may be playing a big part in this crap to

Pollack was right about how the SEC East has legit coaches and division is trending up. Kiffin is only coach that is realistic that could go toe to toe with Mullen, Smart, and Muschamp.

miles is 7-1 vs mullen. 3-1 vs muschamp. that's two out of the three

It amazes me how mistreated our fan base is. When Kiffin was hired, the fans were kinda iffy about it because of his Al Davis feud but we got on board and it blew up. Then the administration ran out and hired Derek Dooley and the fans said "are you crazy?he isn't qualified to be the coach at UT". We were told he was the right guy so just get on board. We did and he was a disaster. Then the administration hires Butch Jones and the fans said "no way, Dooley beat him head to head". He was a google coach but we were told the administration had done it's homework and this guy would win big. We got onboard again and it ended with the worst season in UT history. Three times in a row, the fans were right and the administration was wrong and now, the fans had the audacity to want a coach that doesn't have suspicion swirling around him that he may have let a child rape go unreported and we're called idiots and morons and hee haw u. UT fans deserve better.

Gundy is not coming. Leach isn’t gonna work with Phil.

Only two quality coaches want to be here for sure. Tee and Kiffin.

Name another coach that would be a realistic hire that could compete with those other three schools year in and year out for next ten years...
So now it's only two. Drama and waffle. Is that a new item on the Waffle House menu?

if mike leach was so good he wouldnt be coaching at wash st while florida a&m ole miss and miss st needed coaches.

This. He's essentially another Mike Gundy type that can put up 8 and 9 win seasons, but hasn't won anything.

Nope. I remember. Maybe you arent old enough to remember how hard it was for any team outside the big ten to get any respect from the media. Maybe you don't remember when we kicked the **** out of miami while the announcer kept talking about what we were gonna have to do to stand a chance. Half the damn country thinks our entire history is Peyton Manning, and theyre shocked when I tell them we were better when he left.

i don't know why we care at this point, what anyone thinks.

the only thing you have to ask yourself is "are you glad this happened?" if the answer is yes, then don't worry about it.

short term wise, you had to just know that we'd have to take it on the chin. no way you can have what happened last sunday, and culminate in to what happened on Friday, and there not be consequences, even if not totally deserved. it just is what it is.

but, we get a good coach and staff in here, start winning again....and it will have all been worth it. remember, that's the goal. that's why this happened. don't forget that.

i haven't lost a wink of sleep because of what any uninformed media person says. if they don't care to find out the "why" behind it, then it's not worth the time and effort it takes to listen or read what they have to say. it's just a lazy narrative to push that panders to equally uninformed reader/viewer base....and none of them care to know either. so it's definitely not worth it for me...........GBO.

This is a good analysis. If sucking for the short term (1-3 seasons) means getting rid of Haslam/Currie wing of the AD than by all means I am for it.

The frustrating thing is that there are some coaches out there that could speed up the process. Not winning right away, but not completely sucking either....

7-1 with LSU vs Mullen at MSU.

Are you honestly saying MSU talent is the same as UF talent?

lately? yes...historically? of course not. And as all of us tennessee fans have learned, you have to develop those talents. beating a coach 7 out of 8 times is a testament of coaching as well, not just the talent of the field. A good example of this is how SCAR has had our number in recent years. You can't tell me tennessee didn't have the more talented locker rooms in the last decade.

The Gameday crew must want to be across the river again on top a parking garage.

yes, there are. i'm all for a miles/martin combo at this point.

there are others i can/will get behind as well. but you are correct, even aside from that combo, there are others ou there that could do the same, if not more, short term.

just not sure how many of those guys would say "yes" at this point. a couple have already turned us down.

i have to think with Fulmer only have a 2 year contract, while he's probably wanting "long game", he also has to understand and appreciate all this good will that's been generated, will fade really fast.

and i'm sure he knows that...as he's been thru it first hand....:)

You think Kiffin would work with Fulmer? He's mocking you, stop with your obsession. It's damn near gay love you have for Kiffin.
