They're going because it's going to be a historical game/moment in College Football, and a giant football party. Tennessee was invited to the party because of who they are.

So, yes, they're there for the occasion. But it's an occasion because of Tennessee Football.

Pretty sure Tennessee was invited to the party because they are right next to Bristol. Just like VT was invited for the same reason.

It was probably a choice between BOB and UT-UF. If both UT and Bama are undefeated on TSIO, Gameday might come to Neyland. That would be a tough atmosphere to beat.

This wasn't a shocker at all. Just look at the schedule for the teams ranked top 25 for that day.

Only other game they could've gone to was probably TCU vs Arkansas.

But let's be honest, College Gameday was never gonna pass up the opportunity to be part of something special for the first time.
