Gamecocks lost to Tigers & Wildcats

Not sure if you watched SC swap TDs and stay with Auburn for 4 quarters.....
i would list our chances in order-- Vandy, Mizz, SC, KY

If it wasn't for USC completing 5 of 6 4th down conversions they would have gotten dominated in the second half. So "swapping" TDs is a little misleading. Not like they were scoring at will.

The offense put up more points on Bama than any UT team in a decade, rushed for more yards than any team that has faced them this year, and put up the second most yardage against Bama. Bama is a top five defense in the nation if all things are considered, South Carolina is not. Tennessee will be one of the better defenses that Carolina has faced to this point as well. Again I restate that UT should clown stomp Carolina if the defense shows up.

Disagree. You cannot base anything on one game. We will have to play error free to win.

1. Wish it was at home.... I'd feel much better about our chances.

2. I don't think the revenge factor plays a huge role in this game. I do think the "Bowl chance" factor for USC could motivate them.

3. I feel if we win this one we win out..... Fans will come in full force to Missouri--Happy w/ USC win. Win that one the fan bases comes in full force again to get bowl bound vs. Kittens. Beat Kittens and the Western end of the state paints Vandy's stadium Orange and we have 7 wins on our hands!

4 I feel if we take an L in this one we might go just the opposite of above and only have 4 wins. Still say we beat Vandy.

Are you kidding me? Anyone saying we should kick SC butts are crazy. I think we have a good shot to win but you guys could very well be let down.

I think we win btw I'm just not seeing a blowout at all.

I think this USC team is far more dangerous then people realize. They beat UGA and played auburn close. They are a Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hyde type team. They will be looking for revenge and Spurrier always brings his A-game against us.

The common denominator is that neither Auburn nor UGA has a decent secondary. South Carolina has a potent enough offense but a good defense can stop them.

Many are feeling confident about beating the Gamecocks and probably not too concerned if the Vols do fall short (being at Columbia and the dog). However, considering the fact SC beat Georgia, and then lost to 2 of the 3 teams the Vols face in November, maybe we should be more concerned. Just how important is this game to the season goal of playing in a bowl game?

I said that FL was our most important game of the year. I think SCAR is a close second. Losing means we would have to win three SEC games in a row. Considering we have only won 4 SEC games since 2010, that is tough row to hoe.

Our D will struggle with SCar's offense in my opinion. They're #5 in the SEC right behind the best Offenses in the league....MissSt, TexasAM, Alabama, Auburn. Our Defense has been good this year, solid. However, we're really bad in the redzone, are not very opportunistic and have given up a lot of points vs our best opponents to date....34 vs Okla, 35 vs Georgia, 34 vs OleMiss and 34 vs Bama. Our offense better be humming against their awful defense, because I'm betting our defense will give up plenty of points on the road vs an excellent offense at night. Jmo.

IMO people are way overestimating the positives from the AL game and it's setting us up for a huge letdown against a quality SCAR team. Despite milking the clock for the entire 4th quarter, AL still scored more points against our supposed "elite" defense as they had their other two road games combined. Our offense looked much better, but how many times have you seen that happen when a team doesn't prepare for the QB that eventually plays?

A buddy of mine who is a Southern Miss grad said it best: imagine if Alabama had played Southern Miss at USM, before a rabid sellout crowd. AL goes up 27-0. Despite AL fumbling running into the end zone and having a turnover in their own redone, USM still loses by two TDs. What would your reaction be if a Southern Miss guy tried telling you how great they played?

It would likely be exactly would Sabin said-we let up a little after getting way ahead.
I'm not trying to pour water on hopefulness from the AL game, I just don't want people to go insane and think we should walk into USC and dominate, then scream for blood if (God forbid) the game doesn't go well.

Please get out of here with such logic! :good!:

remember this is the same SC team that couldnt stop kentucky's wildcat offense when everyone in the stadium including the defense knew JoJo Kemp was going to run the ball.

I keep reading posts about this being a revenge game for SC. Does seeking revenge increase their chances? Does it make them up-tight? Does it make them more prone to mistakes? I doubt there has ever been a stat on this, so the question is wide open.

if that was the case, we should be beating bama and florida every year, we have plenty of revenge built up at this point....

Not too worried about KY, they are over hyped. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost their last five games. Miss St was joking on the sidelines, they could of cared less about that game and before that they got blown out at LSU something like 41-3. I actually watched the Miss St/ Ky replay last night. Ky IMO is a very average team offense and defense. UT at home, I like our chances
Alabama players were joking on the sidelines against us. Don't sleep on this Kentucky team. I don't believe they beat us but Stoops has them playing in over their head. If Vols don't show up cats could end up leaving Knoxville with a win.

So as I understand it will depend on if the Cocks D is a bigger flop than our O?

I'm not buying the calls that we should handle USCjr easily. USCjr is a quality team with a strong offense that should give our D a challenge. Our D is solid and one of the better ones that USCjr has faced, so in my opinion it is going to hinge on red zone stops and forcing turnovers.

That's just our Defense. Our Offense is going to have to bring everything to the table and Dobbs is going to have to prove that he's not a one-hit wonder. He's a smart kid that can make adjustments on the fly as well as anyone I've seen, but he's going to have to have some help from the rest of the offense - O-Line in particular. USCjr's defense is shaky, so hopefully they can keep them on their toes and backs against the wall from the opening snap. If we can keep from turning the ball over ourselves and forcing them with our defense, I think we've got a good chance to come away with the win.

Should be exciting, nonetheless.

Dominate? Doubtful.

The hope lies as much with SC not being very good overall (terrible on defense).

Outside of the UGA win and a loss to AU, SC has shown very little quality. That puts us about right where we need to be to win a game between 2 very mediocre teams.

The season just started for UT. It's four games long and they've got to win three of them. They've still got a chance of this season being a success...That was the whole goal coming into the season. Make it to a bowl. Butch said it himself.

The guy from the GameCocks Scout page says that he expects the GameCocks to "score at will" on the Tennessee Defense, and that with a back up QB TN won't be much of a challenge to put up many points. (video 2 min. mark forward) At the end he says expect the OBC to come out and really put it on TN early.

Scout.com - College and High School Football, Basketball, Recruiting, NFL, and MLB Front Page

Sounds like their insiders are expecting a pretty easy victory for USC.

Unfortunately for them, they are not playing at will; are playing at Columbia. Against our defense.

Vols definitely need an upset win at Columbia! A win there helps. Vols can win against Vandy. Missouri will be tough. Vols lost close one last year. The Pressure is on. Vols need wins the next two weeks-SC and Kentucky. The latter is in Knoxville. The Wildcats are not the "normal" Kentucky team of the past. They are scary! They should have beaten the Gators and have played other teams close. If Worley is okayed to play, I say we split the QB play. That give us a better chance. Play one QB for a quarter then the other. Whoever is doing the best play them the most.
Butch has to impress on this team that the last 4 games are the most important game of the season and they have to play them one at a time and SC is the "most important" right now and to give 110% in this game!:clapping:Leave it all on the field!:clap::aggressive:

I wouldn't say the Wildcats are "scary", they are just playing over their heads right now thanks to being well coached to this point in the season. It's a very winnable game for the Vols if they step up their game, but a lot is going to ride on how we play in the games leading up to it.
