My wife and I are thinking about heading up for a game this year with our 2 month old. Have any of you ever taken a young baby inside of Neyland? How did it go? Do they need a ticket if they will be in my wife's arms? So far she doesn't seem to have a problem with noise but has not been anywhere THAT loud yet...

I would not do it for several reasons but this one would be enough for me not to do it.

Your child is bound to be unhappy at one point or another and you have no idea how people around you are going to react.

I would stay on the safe side and have someone, like a grandparent, keep the child.

:good!:

Put some headphones on the baby with some baby music to drown out some of the noise.

You'll have to buy a ticket as far as I know. If the game your going to is anything like the weather was at the Georgia game and your sitting on the UT side then I'd give it a big hell no.

The kid would be miserable from the heat

Yeah, I hate to say it but, no I wouldn't do that. The baby DOES have to have a ticket, and the stadium and the loudspeakers can be VERY loud. And depending on where you're sitting -- very, very important -- you could have rednecks spilling beer or Coke and Jack on you and the baby.
Enjoy your baby while you can; there's time for football later. Or go with your buds and owe your wife big time.

I was in the same boat you are in last year - with a 2 month old during football season. Thought about going to a game... for about 2.0 seconds.

DON'T do it!!! My daughter is amazingly immune to loud noises, but I can't think of ANY situation in the first year of her life even coming close to the loudness of Neyland.

Your child will be screaming/crying, your wife will in turn be screaming/crying, the folks around you will then be screaming/shouting, and then you will be screaming/shouting/crying/fisticuffs.

Fire up the big screen and enjoy it at home, or save up some honey-do points and cash them in to go to the game by yourself.

:salute:

I would not recommend it. I took my mine when she was about 6 months old.
1st, yes you do have to have a ticket.
2nd, Better buy two extra tickets to have the room for diaper bag, comfort, etc. Neyland is known for holding 100,000 but not comfortably.
3rd, Carrying he/she to the game is bad enough, holding them for 3.5 hours and then walking back carring them is worse.
4th, wife ended up sitting in under the stands to keep her out of the heat. So after the game I had two miserable people to deal with instead of one.
5th, the people around you (tennessee or other) may get stupid
6th, hey man, they are 2 months old...enjoy them while you can, watch from the comfort of your home and make their first visit a positive one!

Go VOLS and congrats on your little one!

Completely agree with the above pearls of wisdom. Your little one would get absolutely nothing from the game and, for sure, neither would either of the parents! And, if your baby "broke bad" and it is pretty certain that would happen, you would get some dirty looks. Stretch out on the sofa or recliner and cuddle that baby and watch the game on the big screen.

I took my son to his first game on his first birthday Sept. 4 1999 and he loved it. He was never a "cryer" so I wasn't to concerned about that plus the weather was great and we were surrounded by the same season ticket holders we had gotten to know over the years. He's 9 now and has been to 15-20 games and the only time we've had a problem was last year when he got sick at his stomach during halftime and we left early. I'll share some of those first game pics. asap.

To be honest, I am not concerned about the feelings of the baby here.

I just think it is rude to the other fans to bring a baby into this situation.

That, Rogers, is the perfect example of why you don't want to bring your baby to the game:

Get over yourself high and mighty. The baby has parents, I should assume if the baby is unhappy then the parents will care about the baby and address his/her unhappiness.

It is not for the people who paid money to attend a raucous event to temper themselves because someone 2 seats over brought an infant to an inappropriate event.

I think it's rude for.....how should I say it.....wwiiddee people to bring themselves to a game and use 1 1/2 seats. Let's not leave out drunks (it's always fun watching them roll down the steps) and those people who sit behind you (maybe you're one of them) and dig their knees in your back all game long and NEVER say sorry.

I could be mistaken, but I think that turn3 is cleverly pointing out the hypocrisy of your post.

If that is what he was doing then he messed up. I am not widddeee, use only my seat, can hold my liquor and am respectful to people I sit around.

Just take your lil one to the local bar and watch the game.....all the germs and stuff of 100,000 people :)

If you can't find someone to watch the baby, then don't go. Neyland Stadium is not a place to take an infant. The reasons can go on and on.

This is just me though.
