Game week!

Nope no pediction from me. History has shown me that no matter how talented a team is that doesn't mean that they cant have their a$$es whipped on any given Saturday.

"As for Miss St I will take a win over any SEC team on any given week. Doesn't matter if you win by 1 or a 100 your record will still be the same" [QOUTE=]

We are fans. It is ok to have an opinion and make a prediction. I promise it will not have any weight on the outcome of the game.

Yes, I agree a win is a win, but you were talking about how your offense and defense is clicking. I was making comment on that, and not so much on the win.

Be brave man you can do it; give us a prediction.

Instead of a prediction how about I give you a rundown on my interpetation of the Miss St. game.

We were dominant on D ( a few stats below)
  • we held them to 213 yrds total offense
  • 56 rushing yards
  • 157 passing
  • 3.2 average per play
  • 4-15 on third down
That is pretty dominant by any standards

On offense
  • Crowell had 90yrds at halftime
  • we led 21-3 at halftime
  • In the second half we went to a ball control type of offense that chewed clock but only yielded 3 points
  • We only yielded 3 points because of 2 ST miscues (missed FG and botched snap on FG attemp)
  • Aarron Murray had 3 picks (off day and locked in on WRs)
If we continue to struggle late in games our D will get tired and we will get beat eventually. Will that be against UT this weekend? I don't think so :matrix:

If we don't rush for 100 yards you guys win, plain and simple.

Agreed. If we stuff the run and force Bray to pass it will allow our D to pinn the ears back and rush. If we can get to Bray and disrupt his passes we should be able to get a few picks.

I live about 40 miles south of Chattanooga so I see a few Vol fans myself (including parts of my family). Needless to say I look forward to this game every year.

You live in Dalton? My father in-law lives down there. He can be an obnoxious Vol fan. For a Guy who didn't go to UT and lives in GAy I always found that odd. Now as for myself I'm a proud graduate of the UT and also very obnoxious.

Where are you watching the game?

I actually live in Rome but my business takes me through Tennessee all the time. I love obnoxious fans its what makes this game fun. Hopefully I will be in Neyland but if not I will be hanging out with my nephew watching it on the big screen.

Neyland Stadium will be rocking Saturday night, gameday atmosphere will be great and people will hopefully be screaming their heads off. I couldn't even hear Rocky Top on tv against Buffalo, and my friends I'm going with to this game have never been to Neyland. I've assured them that this place gets loud, though.

We will see how dominant your defense is against a good offense as opposed to the offense of Miss. St.

Let me give you a break down:
Miss ST: passing ranked 89th
rushing ranked 38th (not so bad)
offensive scoring 75th

If UGA can stop the Volunteer offense, then I will be impressed.

Fadeproof...good to have you for Vol week. I don't think Ga will pressure Bray into mistakes...he is just very good I think. Our problem will once again be the running game. If we can't get that going it will be tough for us. What is your take on Murray. 6 interceptions so far and 3 just last week. I am a Chattanoogan so the Ga and Bama games are the ones I live for. I think Tennessee wins this one....but has LSU,Bama, Arkansas and South Carolina calling. Even with a Vol victory Ga could still have the edge in the SEC with their remaining schedule.

He's back. For one week and one week only, fadeproof.... S T F U! :)
As always. Unfortunatley life comes first but because I am indebted to some of the old time posters I will always make it a point to show up here for atleast it a week. It is the least I can do.

I agree that Bray is very good, but pressure bust pipes. From what I have seen from the Vol games that I have been able to watch and the reports from this board your OL is still a work in progress. This gives me hope that we will be able to cause Bray to question his protection some. That doesn't mean that we will shut him down but maybe force him to make a few mistakes that go in our favor. Like you said the question is will your running game (ranked last in the SEC) be good enough to keep us honest.

As for Murray, he is a redshirt sophmore playing against SEC defenses against a young OL. Mistakes will happen. As long as he manages the games and we come out with a Win I could care less about his stats. Now, if games start going the other way then we will have serious problems.

The questions from the OL have not been in pass protection, but in the run game.

The O Line has done a good job of protecting Bray so far. Obviously the running game has got to get going. Murray did not have a good game against Miss State...but they won anyway. 3 interceptions and one returned for a TD. Hope he has a few gifts for the Vols. Saturday can't get here soon enough.

Good to see ya Fade. Bray has actually done very well over his entire short career against pressure. He knows how to slide around in the pocket and can stand in their with the best of them with a defender in his face. Like someone else said our pass protection has been pretty solid, if we can run the ball watch out. (We probably won't be able to).
