Game Thread WCWS Lady Vols vs Texas

Either I don't understand the way the bracket was set up or Texas and Washington are flip-flopped. I thought the 2 four-team brackets would determine the 2 teams in the championship series. Never thought that teams would end up playing teams in the other bracket, prior to the championship series that is.

The Loser of Today's winner's bracket game flops sides therefore Texas will play the winner of the Florida/Nebraska game to advance to play the Lady Vols and Washington will play the winner of the ASU/Michigan game to advance to play Oklahoma.

Yep, looks like I misunderstood the bracket. Either way we are 1 win, with 2 chances, away from the championship series.

The game today against Washington was killing me. We left so many on base that I was thinking Washington will finally get some runs and win. Finally got one across just in time to keep from going extra innings. Go Ladies!!!

If we win our next game, we will be playing for the championship. That is likely to be against a pretty loaded oklahoma squad. But the sooners were expected to win it last year, and they were beaten by an SEC team. It would be quite sweet to see the Vols beat them this year--twice.

Yes... and rode out the storm last night with the Lady Vol players, coaches and families. Everyone doing OK but it was a rough night for us all....

it was good to get the win. We would have found a way to lose this game in prior years... nice to see them winning the 1-0 ball games... NC State 11 innings & 1-0 vs Washington. The Team came through and gave themselves a chance to win!

Mel was pressing and her timing just off... this is the first live pitching that she has seen in 4 weeks... everyday she is getting more confidence. Hope she can come through and contribute towards the win!

Why does the LadyVols' website show the "Next Event" to be at 1:00 ET today (i.e., Sunday)? Is the game at 1:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. ET?

It's crunch time: win tonight and it's a showdown against big, bad oklahoma. Need to hit the ball better with runners on base.

We play the UF-Texas winner. We get a rematch if we lose. Originally, we would have been playing both of our games today, if it takes two. The weather postponements have probably bumped that second game to tomorrow afternoon. The schedule on ncaa.com has not given a date and time for the if-necessary games, but that's probably the plan. It would be nice for us to win tonight, while OU loses. Then, we'd probably start the championship series tomorrow night against a team that played earlier that day.

They will push the final series to begin on Tuesday if either we or OU lose tonight and have to play on Monday.

I like the bracket flop. It avoids the possibility of beating a team, then losing your next game, and then playing the team you just beat in an elimination game. Without the bracket flop, two teams could split a pair of games, and the one going home is the team that theoretically had the harder 'strength of schedule,' because their other game was against a team in the winners' bracket.

Nebraska lost to Florida in extra innings unfortunately. That was their second lost so they are bounced out, correct?
