my two cents:
the defense was great. Ogilvy was a non factor except for the first few minutes of the 2nd half. the forced the turnovers they're going to need, and the rebounding was better than i anticipated. Chism obviously was big in that department.
i thought offensively we were pretty good once we kind of got settled down in the 1st half. the barrage of 3's in the latter half of hte 1st half were huge and really put Vandy on their heels.
but i'd pay attention to what happened to Vandy with their 3 pt shooting. the same thing could happen to us at some point, and net a similar result if we go cold for that long from outside.
that said, all around great effort by all parties. the simply wouldn't let the game get away from them, and were in control most of the game. i thought BP did an excellent job of not getting caught up in the fouls. no technicals for him, one for Stallings, and the one for stallings came at the WRONG time for Vandy.
now, the officiating was bad, on both ends. usually when i watch a bball game you get a pretty good idea of how their going to call a game and you can adjust accordingly. this game though, they were letting them bang around underneath, but calling some really ticky takc stuff outside. didn't make sense to me. saw guys at both ends getting knocked to the floor, checking their noses, rubbing their eyes, and no calls.
then they call a simple hand check at the top of the court? both coaches were frustrated with the refs and for good reason.
i also credit CHism again for staying out of serious fout troubel after it seemed in the first few possesions in the 2nd half, if you got near Ogilvy, you got called.
Good to see Chris Lofton have an impact. he was really good in that 2nd half run.
i thought Ramar played one of his better ball games along with chism.
All in all, very pleased with the effort, the game itself, and the out come. to hold Vandy to 26 pts less than their normal output is GREAT. and to do it at home with a great crowd on hand and on national TV was just icing on the cake.
great win, Go Vols.
