Game Thread: SEC Tournament Second Round. #18/14 Lady Vols (9 seed) vs. Vandy (8 seed). Thurs., March 6, 11 am ET, SECN

Looks like Auburn coach is the first to go. I really expect A&M and Arkansas to follow will be surprised if they don't. SEC the conference is a job creator.

I'm saying Harper to Auburn. I really believe she can get that job.
Arkansas firing their coach wouldn’t be at all surprising. UGA’s coach probably should get the axe, but maybe they’ll get false hope from our down performance against them and beating a bad Arkansas team and give her another season.

24 fouls VOLS
12 fouls dores
3 made free throw VOLS
16 made free throw dores
All you need to know. Both teams were physically playing the whole game and it got called one way.
It was about the same when they played in Nashville. I was there. Blake's pushed off the whole game, called 1 foul on her for it. Our players got close to her they were called for foul. You can bet Dawn will not let her do it tomorrow. She be on refs until they call it.

Georgia does have some promising freshmen and one or two coming in. Arkansas has nothing coming.

I heard that if a change is made at Arkansas then it will be because Mike Neighbors chooses to leave on his own because Arkansas doesn't have the funds to fire him.

The only bright side is that we may be home when the portal opens and get a jump on everybody else. It opens March 23rd should have some big names in there three or four days later. I am interested to see if Danny White and the NIl systems are willing to support the team to get the top players in there cause for a lot of them it will be all about Nil deals.
Rumors are that the money is here now, it’s about convincing the truly top recruits to play only about 20 mins a game, I think that’s the only road block but it’s a big one. For anyone think what I mean by that, I’m talking about players like Juju, Hannah, Betts as an example of truly top players, first team AllAmericans.

We had three or four players pushing thirty in a lot of games. It is all about dealing and I would say it would be more about the style of play that would hurt us with some. A lot of players don't like to play press. They do like the freedom to shoot the ball and they would have that here.

Vandy in Knoxville next year is a must win. Going to be a game I mark on the calaendar as soon as that schedule comes out. I never wanted to beat a team down more than them. Coach Kim needs to get the players ready to make that happen.
You'll see a difference day 1. A couple of issues with this team is that Tennessee has only one player who can break down defenders (Tay Coop) consistently. I watched Vandy triple team her on drives today and nobody else could make plays...which was smart on Vandy. Spearman has the potential to be ELITE! I love Spencer, Whitehorn, and Boyd...but they lack break down ability. They are straight line players. Whitehorn has a lot to work on because she's extremely predictable. Boyd can't shoot a lick. Spencer is okay but she's predictable as well and she can't break nobody down plus she's a terrible free throw shooter. This Tennessee team lack creators, shooters, and the can't guard quick shifty guards.

So what does Coach Kim do? She went out and got two shifty guards who happens to be TWINS (Mia & Mya Pauldo) and they are TOUGH on both ends of the court. They are extremely hard to guard and they make people BETTER...then she went and got Talaysia Cooper mixed with Jasmine Jones clone in Jaida Civil. She can do EVERYTHING on the basketball court. She can flat out jump out the gym. Lauren Hurst could be a Sydney Spencer if she puts in the work offensively... needs to work on ball handling and getting tougher. Last but not least Baby Tamika Catchings (Deniya Prawl). The moves she has are ELITE offensively. This class has potential to be one the best ever.

Next season Tennessee could run out a lineup like...
Mia Pauldo 5'6
Jaida Civil 6'0
Tay Coop 6'0
Deniya Prawl 6'2
Zee Spearman 6'5

They'll run people out of the gym!

We will have improved talent next year, and the prevSEC schedule will have to be a training period. I think we will handle the ball better and likely shoot the ball better. We will have to play better at the inside, both on offense and defense plus improve our defensive rebounding. Hopefully, we will also pick up a couple of players from the portal.
I have been impressed with the way in which this team has improved. I think it will improve more in each of the next 2-3 years. I eagerly await the future.
Can u name the players that will be better 3pt shooters than Spear, Darby and Spencer next year?

I can’t see a conference rival wanting Kellie. If you can’t win here, you damn sure can’t win at Auburn.
Agree but if anyone would it would be Auburn. Think Jon went to school there and they coached for Joe Champi there.

Have a lot of ties there depends on what they want to do. How much money they got for a coach? How much Nil money they got to spend. Going to take money to get to the top more than ever before. If they are looking to win more than they lose she would be a good one. She is good at winning 18 to 20 games anywhere. Your not going to win any titles, but you wouldn't be a bottom feeder.

Mia Pauldo, Mya Pauldo is the only two I can name right now. Maybe Hurst can be added she seems to have a very nice stroke as well. She has the ability wonder if she is a basketball player or not there is also volleyball.

I guess time will tell, let’s see how the 2026 class works out.

That is it right now waiting to see how we do in the portal hearing there are going to be some very big name players leaving their present teams.

What are you talking about?
Betts was a bench player her freshman year.
Until Coach Caldwell #1/#2 HS recruiting class plays in her system along with Cooper, Boyd, Latham etc. nothing you talk about as relating to recruiting and the system makes sense.

She acknowledged the team’s fatigue again today, more in depth I’d say, and seems to think that has contributed to the disappointment of the last 2-3 weeks.
Every distance athlete tapers at a certain point to benefit from all their conditioning. It is good she is acknowledging it, tho I am bit shocked she perhaps needed this experience to learn it. Hate our seniors having these ugly and (imo) embarassing losses at the end of the year due fatigue and predictable offense.

Oh my! First off let me tell you how honored I am to sit here eating my lunch, making some trades and I’m on your mind. Thank you. I’d rather see a 20 point fight than a 40 point loss, but that’s just me. Not sure you can say inferior when it’s a 8/9 matchup and we are the 9.

Pretty telling mindset HUH!

Spear and Spencer both shot over 40%, u think the twins will be better than that? If so I might have to put us in the final four.

Depending on the portal and what we get and years to play I am expecting that class to be a little shaky. Really hoping for Harpring guess were one of maybe top eight. I have no confidence that Edwards is coming here maybe she will surprise me. I had just as soon to spend those Schollys on sophs and juniors if they are the right type players in the portals. Not to interested in a senior unless it is a big that has an exceptional record.
