Game Thread Lady Vols vs Texas A&M SEC Tournament

Good win, even better if the TV's right and that earns them a #1 seed. This team would have let that get away in the past, at least some of the time, but they fought through it today and there were some big names bringing that fight to the other team. Harrison was begging to take it to them; we just have to keep getting the ball to her. And the two kids from Oregon are just going to keep getting better, which makes me feel great about the future.

Let's hope that's the last we see of the slow starts, though -- that's going to catch them sooner or later.

Russell, Reynolds, Burdick all stepped up. Izzy was her awesome self. Hopefully Simmons will be on track tomorrow and we will have a laugher for the championship.

There are no easy games come tournament time. There's no such thing as a "laugher" in playing in the SEC championship game. Kentucky will be a hard fought foe to over take & win if LVs are lucky to continue their march for a victory SEC trophy. We will have to keep Jennifer O'Neil in check all game long & that will not be an easy task. Go Lady Vols.

Two good 40 minute games up and down against quality foes. This is how to get tourney ready.
If you have not gone to SEC.com they have all the press conferences after the game - both coaches (all available to watch front to back) The reason assistant coaches are on the local stations is that is a requirement of the tourney. the head coaches go directly to the press room with several players.

I couldn't watch the game, but listened to Mickey. It sounded like A&M was getting killed by foul trouble. Were the calls on them reasonable or did the refs mess 'em up?

Officiating was fairly decent. They seemed to call more touch fouls on us and A&M was getting their money's worth on most of theirs. But it wasn't a game where you just sit there wondering what the refs are going to do next. You were actually able to enjoy the game.

So yeah, it was reasonable

yea it wasn't bad,I don't get all the touch fouls,when hammering is going on inside,but they were consistent with there calls,which is what you want

I really can't relate to the foul rules a couple of those calls on Carter and Simmons were hilarious. I mean you touch a player twice it is a foul. You can punch somebody in the nose inside and it is not a foul as long as you do not touch them twice.

POG could have been a lot of players. Izzy was great so was Russell in relief. Burdick made some huge plays so did Carter. Any of those four players could easily be POG. Graves made some huge shots and then comes Reynolds with three or four huge baskets.
No show Jones she could play a lot of minutes for us against Kentucky she is well rested.

i do like that Graves is getting to the free throw line and making them,that has kept the Lady Vols in the game today and last night,of course she isn't the only one

it seems Russell has turned the corner on that part of her game too,i do have to say that a lot of Russell game has turned a corner,for the good,now some more strength and better blocking and foot work,she will kick some ass next year

I absolutely enjoyed this game. Like last night when the Ladies got behind, they knew they had this. You could see it in their eyes. This could be a final 4 team the way they are playing. These girls are gonna be special next year.
