Nared is the most improved and She showed it ! She obviously worked on her outside game as well as inside... She took the ball to the hole and penetrated well! she will be a good complement to DD... I want her to take the three if you need too.... this is the ONLY way the other teams will stop packing a zone around Mercedes.... Someone has to make the three.... DD was one out of three and Middleton looks like she can make the three also!!! I guess we will have to wait on Courtney to see how she is going to play. I do not think Courtney or Middleton can guard any division I player??? They are both a step slower than they need to be to stay in front of an offensive player. So they will get beat on defense or have to foul.... or we will have to play more zone defense. Holly wont do that!

Exactly! If Mercedes is posted on her side and kicks it out to her and she's wide open she has to take it, after a couple of makes the defense will have to stop sagging and guard her! I want her first option to be to attack but if she is open she has to shoot and that goes for everyone (within their range) in my opion we are 9 deep and cant be giving away possessions

RE Nared: She should absolute shoot the three if the shot is there--and shoot it CONFIDENTLY. Confidence is key to shooting--whether it's a three-foot shot or a 25-foot shot.

Nared, play to your strengths, if that include the three so be it, but it better go in, is all I'm sayin.

We just gotta knock down shots in front of Mercedes, and that shot don't necessarily has to be a three... attack the basket, defenders will start to help... which will open things up for Cedes.

I'm with you that's crazy to not truly aknowledge the game she had. Why score if it's not needed. Yes show that you can score if needed, which I think she did but run your team first.

I miss carter on the court..and It might would've been diff if i watched the game instead of listening to it

One thing I did notice about Jordan, she made that little mid range Jumper alot more times than she missed it....that's the main thing I was looking for, besides her assist to turnover ratio....which was EXCELLENT btw. I'd rather see DD, Nared, and Cedes getting most of the shots anyhow. I gotta admit, I'm going to miss seeing Cooper this season :(

but she never developed offensively. She's athletic, but a bit small and never seemed confident on offense. I was a big fan but she never influenced games for us in the way that good guards should.

That was an awesome performance by Jordan Reynolds. If she plays that well in most of the game this season we will win a lot of games. She does not need to be a scorer. We have a big three in Russell, Deshields, and Nared. If she can get them the ball where they can score we will be a great team this season.

I saw a lot of improvement in the team as far as taking good shots and defending the basketball. The play at point guard tonight was outstanding and Deshields and Nared were a dynamic duo. Russell was about the same as last year. I am still looking for her to get more aggressive on the court both offensively and defensively. She has a habit of just standing and watching on a lot of possessions. Overall I think were better than last season and will have a better record if everyone stays healthy.
Nared, Deshields, and Middleton have improved a lot over last season. Reynolds played point guard better than I have ever seen her play there. She really ran the team effectively.
Looks like Jackson and Middleton will do most of the backup work. Harris will probably get between five and ten minutes per game. No comment on Dunbar until she is able to get well and onto the court. I am hoping she has improved her defense her offense is not a concern.

I agree. I think she will do well as a commentator--good command of the language (well-spoken and presents well) and of basketball--but I already miss her aggressively going after the ball. How many players do we have that will reliably throw themselves on the floor after a loose ball? We have lately had too many "precious snowflakes." Are they afraid they will get their uniforms dirty?

I took more positives away last night than negatives. Nared's physique makes her look like a whole new player. You can tell she hit the weight room this summer. I actually think Middleton looked faster last night too! I think what will be interesting is how CHW will play minutes, and use her timeouts as needed. Obviously we are short-handed, but Diamond/Russell/Nared/Reynolds on the floor looks to be our best line-up. It's the last spot will be open. I want us to have a solid starting 5 to create consistency.
We also have to remember this was Carson-Newman. Their defense doesn't compare to what SEC will bring. With that being said, I think it's a great start and something to build on. I actually LOVE our schedule this season. It's tough, but if you look at our games, the games get tougher each night. Giving the girls something to build on each night. Holly isn't throwing them in the fire the first night.

Hopefully one of our players will jus take on the roll of being a deff stopper I hope it's meme she has the size

But when Reynolds is with the second unit and is moved off the ball, I would like to see her attack more.

Last nite, Holly had five guards on the court, interesting lineup, so she will have her opportunity to be off the ball to score, which will make her a better player and guard in the long run.

When she's lead guard, i get it run her team, but when she's moved off the ball to 2-3 spot, we need her in attack mode, especially when Meme and Middleton are on the court with her...

But that was a great start. I think she will showcase her game as the season goes on. I've always been a fan of her game. Consistency from the lead guard spot. And I like the shot distribution by the team.

3-10 Meme... I would rather Reynolds had those shots...2 or 3 of those shots, that's all.
