Yall do realize Auburn is one of the best hitting teams in the country right??? unless you have an ace your pitching is going to get hit hard....and the pitchers next year are really good...just an fyi...then another in the 17' class is really really good

this rule that the batter doesn't have to attempt to avoid getting hit by the pitch has ruined softball pitching, imho

This is the third time this year that UT has blown a 6 run lead. Yes, Auburn is very good, but this has become a serious problem for this team that will likely limit its upside to just making a Regional.

Getting one win at Auburn was a substantial accomplishment. And, playing well in the final game. If Aldrete gets it going it will change the whole dynamic of this team.

Pitching was a problem from day 1, it didn't just happen in this series. Aucoin has trouble with both the strike zone and her off-speed pitch, Gabriel lacks velocity and may not be at 100% physically, Tarango is soft and was injured at the beginning of the season, and Gaffin can only go in relief.

With that said, the pitching is not horrible, but it's the team's weakest link. The team will go as far as the pitching takes them.

Auburn may be the best hitting team since OU in 2013.

I agree. The LV team that went to Columbia and got run-ruled in the first game of the series with USC is a distant memory. That team would have been run-ruled in all three games at Auburn. The LV's have made great strides.

It is important that they stay in 4th place in the SEC in order to get a first round bye in the SEC tournament. Their pitching can't go four straight days, assuming they win.

Aucoin and Gabriel have to get better as the season progresses, that's all there is to it.

It is amazing how much the softball game has changed in a short time. It wasn't long ago-6 or so years?--that nobody could score! Pitching dominated this game; two runs was a high-scoring game. I remember watching a couple of World Series in which UT played, and hardly anybody on any of the teams could get a hit. Now, teams are scoring 6, 8 runs consistently. Crazy turnaround.

It has changed....by design. Speaking to coaches (west coast) as to why the hitting is higher. NCAA actually instructed/requested umpires force a smaller strike zone thereby providing hitters better pitches to hit. Of course they still will call the odd corner pitches but if you notice pitchers like Gabriel(a rise ball pitcher) doing better that may be why. Not sure this is exactly true but I have to believe it certainly is. More hitting, average public likes this although purists don't. I don't think this would fly in MLBB, but women's college SB...Yep. Successful pitchers this year are verticle pitchers...up or down in the zone. And hitters need to adjust quickly....not in the 6th inning jmo.

I watched the 1st and 3rd UT-AU games and the strike zone was incredibly small. Gabriel was visibly frustrated over it and had to pretty much throw it down the middle of the plate to get a strike. Walters for AU was getting the corners. Gabriel was not. I'm not implying anything, that's just how I saw it.

There isn't anything wrong with Gabriel's velocity or movement. She appears to get too tense in these big games I think due to a lack of confidence. When she gets tense she loses control and movement. She needs to know she can dominate these big hitters too. She just needs that confidence.

i don't like that either gule,at least make an attempt to get out of the way or least let em put armor on at the plate :)

I do think that Gabriel needs a bunch more work to help her get over her surgery ,one of the announcer said it was effecting how often and how long she can pitch


somebody above said it my be due to the NCAA tightening up the strike zone,with the Umpires being so inconsistent about who is getting what called ,it makes it hard to tell

which they let em stand still now to get hit by a pitch and all that's for is to get more runners on base

so i agree the NCAA or the SEC is fiddling around with the strike calling and we know they changed the hit batswomen,but i know of no way to verify that,so it is just an opinion of mine ,which as you all know I have many lol
