Game Thread Lady Vols Softball in the Tennessee Invitational

I know this is just my opinion but I don't think Ralph and Karen screw them up. I think they get to the SEC and just can't hang. Junior College is almost just like high school. These kids are not elite(yet). The SEC is as close to pro ball as you can get without playing in the pro league. But with that being said, I wish we could get Monica to come back and help with pitching.

When you get a chance to pitch you can't walk and hit batters. That is what Brake and Morrison have done so Brake want be missed. She turned out to be a me person and really don't need them on a team.
I am sure Ralph is looking for someone to be the third pitcher may not have anyone.
I expect he will give Brumit another shot somewhere down the line when he can. She got two strikes on a couple batters hit one and the other got an infield single. The third player bunted and Campbell had bases loaded and no one out.

Brumit will get in on occasion this year. Just getting back into the habit of pitching instead of rowing a boat. Now Brake can join the Jalen Hurd movement who is a quitter. She did right, move on to one of the other powerhouse programs who may not want a quitter either. lol! I still say give Seggram a chance if needed. We will be fine it the bats stay hot. :mf_surrender::mf_surrender::mf_surrender::mf_surrender:

Agree! We don't need that kind of attitude on the team. Our team always has great chemistry.

Seems like every few years we have one or two who thinks the team l revolves around them. Usually it is someone who loses their position due to them not meeting the standards needed at a high level. Most often these are players who come from a long distance and cant handle the pressure. The most recent that comes to mind would be Taylor Koenig, Hannah Akamine and the girl whose name escapes me that transferred to Arizona. None of these aforementioned played or is playing much at their new school.
I would say Brake takes the cake since she had never played at a high level and never gave herself a chance to do so. Our loss is will prove to be our gain!

Jessica Spigner? Is that who you are talking about? Also, did you mean Taylor Koenig? Rowland is still on the team isn't she?

funny how ralph & Karen can take excellent pitchers and screw them up royally (Aucoin) (Cat what's her name) etc.

get a pitching coach on the team.

Aucoin wasn't an excellent pitcher, she was an average pitcher with a long injury history and good stuff that routinely couldn't find the strike zone. That was her M.O. at Texas Tech and it didn't change here.

A JuCo pitcher can't throw strikes in fall ball and again in the spring so now we're blaming Ralph?

I was just looking at the stats and we have a player named Mary Beth Brumit who has pitched in a game this year. I haven't heard that name before. I looked her up and she was All State in 2015 at Giles County. She was on the rowing team at UT last year? Anybody know the story? Apparently she faced 2 batters, gave up 2 hits and has a ERA of 99.

She was on the rowing team last year, wanted to get back into softball. Joined as a walk-on, knowing her role was likely to be primarily throwing batting practice. Glad to hear she got in the game Monday.

Good for her! It must be a thrill to grow up in Tennessee and get to wear the orange. I hope she gets more chances to pitch. Thanks for the info
