Game Thread Lady Vols in the SEC Tournament

I so agree! Sophie is always trying to get under the other teams skin. She just bulldozes through her opponent and slings ppl around. Tbh I dont think she is that good of player. e

They did play a zone for a while. They went out of it real quickly when I don't remember which number it was for Alabama hit a couple of threes.

The probably is holly does not trust any defense long enough we play better in our 3-2 and if a team get one or two threes she comes out of it Alabama was not going to just continue to hit threes and it would stop then driving

I dont know if anybody will see this, being this thread is old. But if there are any people of prayer out there i would appreciate it if yall would send some prayers up. My dad is having open heart surgery after having a heart attack and discovering 90% blockage in all four main vessels. The whole situation is very stressful... I come on this board to discuss hoops and I love the interaction and it has been distracting me from all that is going on. Thanks everyone

thoughts and prayers are sent Vol0715

I've had open heart surgery done before and it has been around 15 years or so since :) I'm sure it should go ok,I have the scar to show for it lol

Diamond & Plum 2 players that could easily go #1 in this years draft both lose the first game of their league tournament.

why has nobody told DD, Nared, Middleton, et al, that using the backboard to make a shot is a good thing?

DD missed so many shots by clanking them off the rim then she just quit trying. Nared was a bull in a china shop most of the bama game.

I still believe that Holly should have been playing our one true shooter, Dunbar, more especially if she was recovered from her planter fasciitis problem. She should graduate early and go find a place to play. Missouri State could use her. :)

Prayers sent to you and your family! Just shows how unimportant basketball, etc. is compared to family issues.

It wasn't much of a surprise that Tennessee lost. But it was a bit of a surprise that Washington lost after beating Oregon by 22 during the regular season. The thing about Washington is that without Plum that team probably wouldn't win 10 games. She literally has no supporting cast. Even Osahor who is decent, makes her living by standing around at the three-point line waiting for the defense to send three or four players after Plum and then Plum throws Osahor the ball and she's wide open for a 3.

She has a supporting cast she just doesn't past the ball to them much. In their loss last night osahor had 12 pts 27 rebounds & 6 assist 5-12 from field. Plum had 33 points & she took 35 shots.

She is sixth in the Pac 12 in assists, and it would probably be higher if she had more offensive weapons around her. From what I've seen of Washington (and I make it a point to watch them now because of Plum), LVJeff's assessment is spot on. There just isn't a lot of talent there and Plum scores because she has to for them to be successful. Washington has been hovering around the top 10 most of the season solely because of her...

Sending positive vibes your way!

Sad to be in the arena today watching the semi finals and only a handful of orange shirts. It's the SC KY show right now and TN is an after thought. If Pat were here today, she would be coaching Holly to be a leader.

Have you seen Reynolds try to use the backboard?? :eek:hmy: It's a wonder they aren't all broken.

If this Lady vols team had a Sophie Cunningham or two they'd still be playing in the SEC Tourney and they'd be hosting in the NCAA's.

Folks on this board say that MR is too "soft," and then criticize a player who has more grit and energy than any Tenn player other than DeShields.

Oh, and if Cunningham played in Knoxville she'd be a fan favorite just like she is in Columbia. (Wait... how many Lady Vols were on the All SEC first team?) Mizzou finished third in the SEC this year, and Cunningham was a big reason why.

It don't work, folks. Criticizing other teams, players, and coaches doesn't make yours any better.

I think that she is soft. I also think she is soft because she has always been the tallest girl on the floor. And she has never adjusted once she got to college. Now that being said. She does make adjustments tk other players size. But she is soft by my opinion with the ball. Her mentality is a different thing. She lets the ball get slapped away to easily at times. She pivots with the ball a lot like she is being guarded by 5'8 opposing centers. Its like she forgets sometimes that their is other size around her now. Or she gets to caught up in the big girls guarding her she forgets about the small guards helping out. As a junior she should be better accustomed to that now. I blame that on coaching. But i love her as a player.

Middleton not so much. I cant wait until she graduates. If i were the coach i would have never signed her. She may be a great young lady. But she was way over rated coming out of high school. She is to slow and cant play defense against faster guards. She is a liability that is basically a spot up shooter and thats it.

Purposefully swinging a player to the floor, getting a technical, and fouling out of a game, is not my idea of a player with grit and energy.

I had OHS 2 1/2 years ago for AVR (no blockages) and it was not nearly as bad as I feared. I did have a complication (surgeon nicked a vein so I bled into the pericardium and my heart kept stopping) but after the surgeon came back and opened me back up and fixed it, I was fine. I had the quickest, easiest recovery you can imagine! I recommend you check out a website (I think it is heart-valve-surgery) which can be a great support and there is a book written by Adam Pick that will be a huge help to you as your dad's support system! My daughters read it and it was invaluable to them for helping me. When he feels better, I highly recommend going for the heart rehab program for the maximum number of visits--it will help so much in so many ways!

Best wishes to you and your dad! Even if they have already done the surgery, get the book as it will really help you to deal with OHS! And great support on the website! I will continue to think about you and him.
