do any of you replay/watch the lady Vol games on the net or TV?

watching the second half debacle again last night I have deduced exactly who was at fault.

#1 Coach Warlick, for not taking a TO after 2 straight bad plays by Harrison & Simmons.

#2 Simmons, for giving up on a fast break basket by Vandy after her own turnover. note, that was exactly when Coach should have taken the TO & reamed out the team.

#3 Coach W for not getting Russell into the last 8 minutes of game time & not putting the 3/4 court press into effect on Vandy.

It is hard to watch because of that 5'4" Vandy player consistently getting to the basket for layups while our bigger players settle for jump shots. All three of those were key moments in the game. Simmons should have sit more she had a ton of unforced turnovers and defense was horrid for the most part. Russell isn't getting the playing time she needs that is for sure.

Seems timeouts is something both the men's and women's coaches at Tennessee hate to use. I don't know if we would have won but PHS would have given them an earful on the way they were playing. They would probably be washing clothes today.

also, Burdick was awful on Defense for the most part which is the only thing that she had been good at.

Just a bad last five minutes of game time by all the ladies.

Nikki is NOT the answer at all! When they get a new coach, it needs to be someone totally outside of the LV coaching family. Nikki has ONE win over us, and that is probably her biggest accomplishment as a HC. She hasn't proven that she can compete, or recruit against elite teams! Pokey and Van were both able to get highly ranked recruits at LSU, yet Nickki hasn't. I have yet to see why there are so many wanting her as the next HC. If I had to choose a replacement for Holly right now, I would go after Walz, however, Holly does deserve another year or two to see how she actually is! Last year everyone was singing her praise, and upset because she wasn't NCoY, and now those same people are ready to burn her at the stake. She's made mistakes with in game coaching, and she'll be the first to admit that! It's not all on the coaches! The players must be held accountable as well. This team should be embarrassed by how they've played, and hopefully are a bit pissed off by it! I would like to think they will bounce back great, but I don't see that happening. They have an opportunity on Monday to actually make a national name, so I hope they come out strong tomorrow, but leave something in the tank for ND. I don't have the confidence in them being able to play well enough to win both.

This could be a dangerous game as Mississippi State is not ranked yet has a good record PLUS the big showdown with Notre Dame is right around the corner and we have to be careful not to look ahead and forget about this game which is on the road.

Holly is not going anywhere if she can make the NCAA tourney and win 20 games. We have some guys in the AD now that are not gonna push the women's game or change coaches. They like the money Holly is making don't want anybody making a million coaching women's sports at Tennessee. As long as she wins 20 games they keep drawing 10 to 12 thousand to home games and only have to give her like 50 thousand raise a year she could be here until she retires. At 50 grand a year raise will take her 9 more years to get to a million and by then tickets will be a lot higher and so will popcorn.
I don't see any changes unless she were to have a losing season. That would make it happen.

Pat Summitt was wonderful but she could not coach team offense at ALL. Her teams could not pass the ball very well--a legacy that has been continued by Warlick. Why do we assume that Tyler can coach offense? If Tyler were smart, he'd set his own course and stay away from UT. Anybody who thinks he's going to replicate his mother's success is in for a rude awakening. In fact, PS struggled her last 12 years or so at UT--which isn't quite acknowledged because of the Parker titles. The game is a lot different nowadays. And if I were AD at UT, i would not hire Tyler--it would be too much. Go you own way.

As for tonight's game, if I'm Warlick I start trying to push Russell more. Give her the ball more in the low post and let her try to score. If she misses some shots, fine. The idea is to develop her--and the sooner the better. I tell my guards to get the ball to the bigs. We don't really need to see Simmons launch more errant three-pointers, do we? She should work on driving the ball. Work Carter, too. WORK ON YOUR TEAM WEAKNESSES and PLAYER WEAKNESSES and use games like this to prepare for the post-season.

Let's hope they rebound and show that they've ALL worked hard on their weaknesses since Sunday. I wanna see someone step up and be the leader on the court! Oh...and I wanna see a low amount of TOs and better passing! Go LVs!!

I think the main problem with the team and one the coaches are slow to recognize is that were taking to many perimeter shots. Guards get run outs and take perimeter shots instead of taking it to the basket. We were great against guard penetration early in the season stopped NC cold and did a good job against Georgia Tech as well. I think that problem can be corrected, but when will we correct getting the ball inside more to bigs. I know all the bigs are great shooters up to fifteen feet we need to get them more shots they are the ones producing the better averages when it comes to scoring points. We need a lot less of these type shots in a game.

I agree with Holly team isn't playing defense because they think they are gonna get called for a foul. I agree the Refs have been horrible this year but we got to play defense and if they call fouls we'll have a three hours game.
