Game in Atlanta (RUMOR)

They already have. That was the first public comment from the AD; no structural damage to stadium or any of the football facilities.

I'm starting to think some of y'all have some serious high hopes that you can avoid a road game in the Swamp, so you're suddenly emergency management specialists, meteorologists, athletic directors, soccer experts, Mercedes Benz Stadium directors and SEC commissioners all rolled into one.
Lol... It is a little hard to figure. I don't know what Gainesville went through today, but the 3 downed trees in my yard indicate it was no picnic here.

Countries like Iran, Syria, North Korea and Iraq(even under Saddam Hussein) all have a national soccer team. What they don't have is a Football Team. Supporting soccer is supporting terrorists. God Bless America!

Come on now, we've all seen UF play, no Vol fan on Earth is scared of playing them in the Swamp, or anywhere else. I think most are just hopeful they don't have to actually visit Gainesville in general - not because of the storm damage or because they are terrified of the Swamp.

That boy in Hacksaw Ridge saved some good boys' lives with some soccer moves in that movie, so it's alright with me

Lol. As Casey Clausen said in 01...it's a 100 yard piece of grass with goal posts on each end.

You don't have to be an emergency management specialist to realize when EVERY other major university in the state cancels/moves/ or postpones their games - that this game has no business being played in the state of Florida this weekend.

You are. Atlanta is between, and much closer, to the fan bases. Columbia is more than a day's drive to Baton Rouge. TN v UF is a bigger deal than LSU v USCe. All of LSU's 100,000 aren't from Baton Rouge... many of them drive hours for their home games.

And all of UT and UF's fans aren't within a days drive of Atlanta. And of those that are, many have to worry about work, kids, etc. And a heck of a lot of them are currently worrying about dealing with the wake of this storm.

Again, not suggesting they cancel the game or move the game for Fl vs. TN.

Just don't tell me a bunch of posers who think they are European and follow the Premier League like they live in Manchester, England are representative of the typical US sports fan.

They aren't.

No matter how much soccer fan likes to pump up soccer and it being the #1 youth sport in America, etc, etc, etc.

No one gives a ****

Lol boom.

Exactly! I'm in Atlanta too, I dodged trees on the way to work, power was out to nearly all the businesses I deal with most of the day, Downtown buildings literally had chunks of metal dropping off of them, I passed two major accidents on the highways, no school again tomorrow, and several inches of rain.

Yet this place is better suited than Gainesville? Makes zero sense.

You realize it's a statewide emergency in Georgia as well, right? Schools, businesses and universities are closed from Valdosta to Columbus to Savannah to Macon to Atlanta and everywhere in between. Power is out for over 600,000 Georgians and debris was falling from Atlanta buildings in down town only a few hours ago. How in the hell is it a-okay to play a game in Atlanta versus Gainesville? Florida is fully capable of supplying enough gameday emergency personnel for Saturday, and if they need additional outside support, they'll ask for it.

Jaws, Atlanta is far better off. Have you seen pictures of Southern Florida?

Gainesville was impacted less than Tallahassee, Miami and Orlando. I don't see why they all have to be in lockstep.

FSU and UCF canceled because the schedule worked out for them. It doesn't for Florida-Tennessee.

Your emergency personal can be in Orlando or Jacksonville or South Florida helping instead of directing traffic. It's not about how unaffected Gainseville is, it's taking the personel away to hold a game.

Not talking about Naples and Ft Meyers where there were 140 mph winds and a direct impact. I'm talking about Gainesville and the surrounding areas. Jacksonville has some significant flooding but nothing catastrophic. It would be absurd in my opinion to move this game to Atlanta instead of Gainesville. I'd prefer it go to Knoxville before that.

He owns a huge chunk of Home Depot, the Falcons, Atlanta United soccer, and the company that manages the new dome is AMB Group (Arthur M. Blank).

30,000 for soccer or 70,000 for the SEC?

AU has the highest attendence rates of any mls team at 46k average. Almost every game that is moved yields a very small crowd. Wouldn't expect many from FL there.

For what the SEC Champioship gives Atlanta they would be fools to stutter when THE SEC calls. If the conference wants the game in MBS at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon then we will be in Atlanta at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon.

Personally, I think the game will be in Gainesville.

That's almost a completely different monster and set up there though, including not having to refund a whole 46k tickets, not having to pay sponsors, etc, for the game being moved, and not having both the advantages of the more advanced scheduling (for traveling fans to plan the trip) and the corporate sponsorship that comes with the yearly SEC Championship.

Our coach announced in presser today we're coming to Gainesville and stompin' mudholes in your azzes Sat. Sept.16 @ 3:30 pm. Our players don't read into this shat and the plan is the plan. Get my drift ? We want yo' stankin azzes in yo backyard. Get over the notion we'd rather play you someplace else. Only reason in this thread is to get a cheap ticket closer to tennessee.

Chattanooga is the same distance from Knoxville and Atlanta. Nashville is an extra hour. Memphis is 2 extra hours. Everywhere in South Carolina is an extra day's drive away from BR.
