The schools are deciding how these cheerleaders and band members are placed within the stands.

The SEC came up with rules to only allow essential people on the field to limit potential contact with the athletes. So no cheerleaders or bands on the field. They are also not allowed to travel with the team to away games.

Fulmer should complain to the SEC about the Georgia crowd. Maybe they'll BAN the cheaters for breaking capacity limits and level a penalty of NO FANS in the stands next week against Tennessee.

This is a really good point.

We need to get Governor Lee and the Mayor of Knoxville to establish a one-time exception to attendance limits, just for Neyland Stadium and nearby campus areas, and just for the 24th of October. They need to do this in secret.

Then, on game day, Bama shows up in their buses to find 102,455 screaming fans surrounding them, totally by surprise.

We really, really need to make this happen. Nite your posts and write letters to these political leaders, folks!

Good on Georgia’s crowd. It’s about time people start going on with their normal lives and ignoring our dumb overlords. If your high-risk, you probably shouldn’t be at an sec game. For everyone else, enough is enough.

I was at the game so here's my takes on the atmosphere: Strange. Very strange

The first sign was when we turned onto 17th to find parking. Its two hours before the game and there was no cars. It looked like any normal day. Two hours before the game and we parked on White Ave at a meter near Clement Hall. Two hours before the game. That's crazy there.

Had to walk to 22nd so we continued down White. Looking to the left at the lots behind Copper Cellar and those other shops: empty. Empty and no noise.

We caught a ride from 22nd to the stadium where we were dropped off at the corner of Cumberland and Phil Fulmer Way where the scalper stand. Again, no traffic. Looking down Phil Fulmer Way to the stadium it was again very sparse. There was a line to get into the Bookstore which stretched from the door to the street.

In the stadium it felt like an Orange and White game just with one team having another jersey. The band played pregame in the stands and the band ran out straight to their sideline. The jumbotron showed bits of the pregame show to give some type of normalcy.

In the stadium, you're really spaced out. The row in front of you and behind you is empty. The next person on your row is 6+ feet away. Our row had about 8 people on it. After the first score, I went to the bathroom. I can honestly say that might be the only time in my life I've gone into a Neyland restroom and nobody was there. When I needed food, I was the only person at the concession stand. Bathroom and food and I was back for the kickoff to Mizz.

Halftime was a boring as it comes. A few ads on the jumbotron and a couple of songs by the POTSB but that's it.

Leaving the game is when most people are around each other. Got on the road and was back home by 5:30p. Traffic was no different than a normal day.

Strangest UT game I've ever been to

Tell us about the sounds, Greve. Were the 25% of you there able to generate a decent amount of noise? Did it feel strained? Were they pumping fake crowd noise into the stadium? And if so, how loud? Was the fake noise plus your 25% real noise enough to make it as loud as a real game? Did they dial the fake noise up and down depending on who was on offense?

We can see the spacing on TV, but have no way of knowing what's real of the sound we hear.

I forgot about it. The sound.....awful. They pump in "crowd noise" to make it feel as if there's a full crowd but the problem is the noise does not ebb and flow with the play. It doesnt ramp up on 3rd down, it doesnt get louder if something special happens (interception, tackle for loss, big run, etc...) in fact the noise is annoying. I'm sure that without it the atmosphere would be virtually zero with a quarter of the crowd trying to make noise. The band is also mic'd so its broadcast to give it a bigger sound. Could be so the sound doesnt bounce off empty seats too.

As someone who sat in the upper deck beneath the jumbotron, I can testify to the use of piped in crowd noise. They added two stacks of speakers to either side of the scoreboard and it seemed to be the primary source of the crowd noise. When the crowd noise was on, I couldn't talk my friend next to me. They seemed to drop the volume some in the 2nd half and was bearable at that point.
