Gabe Lazo Out

Them loving him so much would explain why they would side with him even if he really did do the University of Tennessee and Coach Kim Caldwell dirty. It only slightly moves the needle in the direction of "Gabe is innocent", not completely narrative-dissolving as is being presented.

To put it another way, he probably couldn't have accomplished what he's accused of unless the players respected him to this level, so this response might be what you'd see if he was innocent or guilty, just for different reasons. [defending his genuine honor vs. them siding with him in the locker room schism]

How much do players who graduated last year add to the discourse, anyhow? The meltdown was this year, not last year. If Gabe had any role with our issues, it wouldn't be a surprise that it was something that happened this year only, and not last year.
Man you can keep playing devil's advocate but the players have spoken that the narrative is false, and we still don't know who these sources are. Until you see them publicly say it it's just gossip and unfounded rhetoric.

What can be said is not one player has came out with an endorsement for Kim Caldwell. Every recruit she under her watch is gone except for 1. Her best incoming recruit wants to leave.

This is just my speculation, but I think she did something with this team and they lost all respect for her. Usually when a coach loses a team like this they are much to blame. For her to not have any relationship with these players is glaring.

Entire team was untalented, poorly rated All-americans. Rumor is on the street that many of them paid for their 5 star rankings. In other news. They were fake talents. SO it does not surprise me at all that the entire team is saying the UTAD's version of events is a lie. In fact, can we trust anything they say. I SAY NO.
All of this totally agree.

I am going to put here 2 scenarios about a family with multiple kids:

1. the mom is the one that sets the rule. the children complain to the father that they don't like the rule... the father says its ok. Mom doesn't know what she is doing don't worry i will take care of it. the kids like the father;s response and will always be supporting of him. Although the Dad's intention may not be be to undermine Mom but the tact used inevitably leads to undermining. I am not sure if any of this existed or not but the truth may be somewhere in between.

2. The mom is the one that sets the rule. the children complain to the father that they don't like the rule... the father says instead explains why the rules are import in a friendly way and he and Mom agree on what she is doing is right. The kids may not like the father's response but will slowly understand that they cannot divide Mom and Dad and will then then comply. I am certain this was the scenario in Pat era where mickey and holly were the friends of players but never undermined Pat that was very evident in the documentary
Honestly, I don't think any of that happened. I think she did not said something to a player or players that they found totally disrespectful, she didn't try to correct her mistake and they basically said f her, went through the motions to put up game tape, and left. Most likely they only came because of the relationship they had with the recruiter and not her.

I find this a more plausible reason. This bs about undermining is just trying to save face. It was easy to walk away. We will see how fabulous a recruiter she is because we all can see who drove the boat in getting this last class in the building.

Not so much of this is about love nor loyalty. For the most part, it seems like all the former players and the assistant coach bet on themselves to abandon the program in hopes of getting Coach Caldwell fired and loss. The one flip mouth parent on social media all but exposed the plan from the start of the season to the finish. Now he’s as quiet as he’s ever been because that phone ain’t ringing like he thought it would be.
I have no doubt in my mind if CKC had been fired that Lazo would’ve never went to LSU or UCF. He would’ve been pushing to get retained at Tennessee as an assistant or the head coach position.
UCF is not a good basketball program and there’s nothing Lazo can do there to make it a contender. He’s a recruiting coordinator in his first season as a head coach at a Power 4 school.
As for the players, none will get signed to a program with a brand anywhere near Tennessee. The one that has already signed went to Virgina Tech. Then since one of Virginia Tech best players have entered the portal.
I think someone gave these players bad advice and they ran with it. You’ll see them at schools like Rutgers, Ole Miss, Missouri, etc.

And more likely than not, winning without Caldwell

Lazo has blocked us all on twitter. Didn’t like being called a snake in all his posts lmao.

He tried to screw up the Edwards deal on his way out. Would love for this staff to bring her back in.

For as much as the players “had his back” they certainly didn’t want to actually play for him. Would have thought he’d have picked up at least one of them lol.

Or could it be UCF didn't have the $ to pay them like the other schools they went to did?

If y'all really think the ladies who left here came her just to be Lady Vols and weren't incentivized by the $ that was thrown at them, I don't know what to tell you. Was he the one responsible for her landing the deal, doesn't seem like Candace was able to get her to stay either? What does that say?

There was once a team where putting on the jersey meant something, now everybody gets to put it on and even their parents are able to wear warm-up shirts from past players.

I’ll wager that half of this years portal pickups will be in the transfer portal this time next year.

It has to be frustrating dealing with players who are more interested in building their personal brand and less interested in the color of the uniform they're wearing. Dollars determine the color. If younger, and faced with the same opportunity, I can't say I'd be any different.

As far as parental involvement in college sports, think Little League coaching. I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't instances where parents are showing up on college campuses demanding a conference with a professor so they can bitch about a grade their child has received. I played high school basketball. Think early 1960s. Yeah, I'm an old guy. Don't recall my parents ever attending a game. My wife was a state ranked tennis player and captain of her tennis squad in high school. Her parents never saw her play. That wasn't unusual then.

And agents, they are just middle men, interested only in the best deal for themselves, um, I mean their clients. Are they constantly shopping the players they represent because each new deal puts more money in their pockets? Is that what is known as a rhetorical question? But, that's their job and they do it well.

So, button up buttercup. To quote Huxley, "It's a brave new world" in college sports. Do not form long attachments to players because you might be rooting against them next season. Gotta keep the wheels turning so continue buying overpriced merchandise, paying exorbitant prices for tickets and millions of dollars to people to coach a game. Oh, it's just a freaking game. Sometimes I lose sight of that. It's really rather unimportant in the great scheme of things. Seems my parents and many others understood that way back when.

I will totally agree with that unless the transfer rules change.

Just a humble opinion but as long as coaches can come and go as they please, I don’t see a case where restrictions on the number of times a player can transfer would be upheld if challenged in court. They are both considered “employees”.
