Samara Spencer, Ruby Whitehorn, Zee Spearman, Mia Pauldo, Janiah Barker, Jaida Civil, Alyssa Latham, Oliviyah Edwards, Gabby Minus... all really solid ball players Kim recruited into Knoxville, who heard what the system entailed, and all thought it was something they wanted to be a part of. I'm going to hold out until after we see this incoming transfer class before making a decision on whether Kim's recruiting has been permanently tarnished, and in particular whether Tennessee under Kim remains a better landing place for tall players who'd get forced into the post elsewhere [Zee at Miami vs in Knoxville, and Janiah too, I think?] and value the freedom to play the game like they did in HS instead of being shoehorned into a role that limits their development -- if that's how they see it, anyway.

Good players but not for Plan A. You need elite guards and rim protector which only Coup matches but she was already on roster. You need 4 Coups and a rim protector. Wait you need 8 Coups and 2 rim protectors as you need two 5 man teams of equal ability. And that is hard to get without a lot of money. Maybe one elite team of 5 but not two elite teams.

I think some, including myself, were a little foolish to believe that he would admit his mistake this early. He already said she was doing great and has his faith. He’s going to try to throw everything new at it for next year and create a different narrative of how much time this is going to take. He’s already laid the groundwork for that narrative anyway.

It got confusing because the initial reports just said they “parted ways”. That started speculation about being fired, especially because no new job for Gabe was mentioned. Then the reporter came out with a correction that said he had resigned.

And I don’t blame her. Don’t get me wrong. I think the system is beyond ridiculous and using it exclusively next year is likely to bring an even worse year than this year.

However, it is true that is what she was hired to do. This is what she said she’d do exclusively next year so no sense bringing in any coach or player not willing to go to the mat for that. Shes going to ride that pony until the legs fall off.

And then, hopefully it will go away and none of us will ever have to hear about this bloody system again

A good recruiter gets players that will work in the coach's system not the highest rated. Kim's system needs 6-8 elite guards and 2 rim protectors. They have 1 elite guard so far if Coup does not leave. You need 7 more like her .....guards that are great defensive and offensive players like Hidalgo from Notre Dame or close to her skills as they do not make many like her.

She made the second round in her first season, evidently without players suited to her system. So if she is as thoroughly convinced that all it’ll take for her system to be very successful is to have the right players AND SHE GETS THEM as she must be equally confident she can, then E8 is most definitely MY minimum for her next season.

A Sweet 16 would feel to me like I was starving but finally stumbled into the last convenience store left on the planet, and the only thing left to eat was that one gross, shriveled hotdog still rolling and rolling under the heat lamp.

Nope. No matter how hungry I am that wouldn’t be good enough.

My Lady Vols should never be like the last hotdog on the rollers, man. Never!

For ME, yes. If her being the head coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols is going to force several kids, including a native Tennessean, to give up their dreams of being Lady Vols,, then she’s going to have to make it darn well worth all that. What would be the point of having all “her players” if even that doesn’t get at LEAST an E8?

Oh, I’m there with you completely, but I can see how Danny might spin if it if she does marginally better. In all honesty though, I’d love if it Kim could somehow get us to the Elite 8 next year, delusional as it may be.

I don’t think there’s anything scandalous there, if that’s what you’re implying. He was very important to what Tennessee did the last two years. But I don’t think he is as difficult to replace as I thought he was a couple of weeks ago. That’s the question I was asked, and I confirmed that my opinion had since changed some based on new information.
